Lots of Port Orleans Riverside Questions!

We love POR! Even if we decide to stay at another resort, we usually go there for lunch or dinner at the Food Court, visit the gift shop (Fulton's) and take a short stroll. The scenery is beautiful and whatever building we stayed in, we always walked to the main bus stop as we enjoyed the walk. We have been assigned to Oak Manor, Magnolia and Arcadian and loved them all! The rooms are average (have two sinks compared to CBR) but the grounds are much nicer. Have a wonderful trip!!

Anybody out there that's stayed at the CBR and Port Orleans Riverside? I wanted to see how the bus system compared to the CBR.

Just booked POR this afternoon for our 1st WDW vacation April 2008!!!
Woo Hoo!!!
Lady told me to book room only now and change to a package when the rates come out...probably within 2 weeks she told me.
I asked for AB Bldg 18.

Found this website really helpful

and this to help look around the resort...referencing the map of building numbers

Thanks for this thread... looking forward to finding out more about POR.

I am not sure where you are from, but I got burned doing the same thing that you are doing. Room only reservations are handled separate from packages. In order to switch from one to the other you need to cancel one reservation (i.e. refund your deposit) and then book the other. I am from Canada and I was burned because of the exchange rates. I guess if you live in the US then there is no problem, but there is definitely no advantage to booking a room only reservation first. I had paid off a large portion of my stay on the first reservation. Exchange rates fell and by the time I went to make my new reservation I ended up losing at least 7%.

In terms of the POR, I loved the resort. I stayed there in October 2006. The food court is way better than any of the deluxe resorts. The main pool area compares well to any of the deluxe resorts. Last year I stayed at the Poly. Personally the only two things that the Poly has on the POR is location and Queen Size Beds (I do not like the double beds at the POR).

Hi, it's me again :) I also stayed at CBR. It was in 2004. We actually had no problem with the buses at CBR. As I mentioned before, we had bad luck at POR with the buses, and a lot of it had to do with the buses already being filled with guests from POFQ by the time it arrived at our stop at POR...Anyway, when we stayed at CBR we did not have any trouble with the buses, so I can say that in our situation, CBR was better regarding the buses.

I'm from Canada as well....No, the lady on the phone at reservations never explained that one to me!!!!! She said all I had to do was "add" the package to my reservation once the rates come out. YIKES.
Oh well, here's hoping the rates stay the same.

Thanks for the warning.
