Lots of Intimate Wedding ?'s

Okay so just a quick question:

My fiance and I are looking to have a small ceremony with just our parents, his brother and sister, and our grandparents (total amount around 13 plus us). For the reception we want to do a simple dinner - no dancing or any of the other traditional reception type of stuff. When you guys say that you are having, or have had, your reception at say Ohana of the Yachtsman Steak House, I am assuming that this was just a normal type of dinner without any of the traditional reception stuff correct? I am just trying to get an idea of what other people have done so that we can start making official plans for our wedding. Unless we have location issues, it has officially been decided that I will be a December 2006 bride!

Thanks for all of your help!!! :)

Good question! I'm not sure as I too am a December 2006 bride! When in December are you getting married?

Intimate brides can book the Illuminations Dessert Party but unless they have changed things in the last two months, they cannot wear their gown. We just had one on November 1,2005 and no gown was allowed. I actually thought this to be a waste of money, but it might be because we were rained out and it kinds ruined the whole affect of the dessert party.

The Intimate Weddings have a small cake cutting and toast ceremony after their wedding and you can have a first dance and father/daughter, mother/son dance but that is it, no dancing like a traditional reception and no meal. Alot of brides want a meal reception so they book a meal reservation at a restraurant (if you want to wear your gown it has to be a place outside the actual parks). Your co-ordinator can help you make reservations. This will be a meal (and cake cutting if you so choose) only, no dancing.

Hope this info helps some, this is all as of November when I got marriage.

Congrats to you! We still do not know. We haven't received the Disney Wedding info that I requested so depending on available dates we would like to get married December 21 or somewhere within that week.

hfehr1s- we had Jennifer O'Leary and she was FANTASTIC. The planning kit they send is e-mailed. It only has info on the bouquet, with pictures, the cake, and if you want any upgrades like characters, towncars, cindy's coach etc. It does not offer you dinner options, illuminations party info, or any add-ons like that it's just info for the basic package.

JustEngagedNicole- we had our dinner at Yachtsman, they gave us a private room , and we had a second cake cutting. We ordered the cake through the Yachtclub's bakery and they had it waiting for us when we arrived at the resturant. We set up everything with the manager at Yachtsman, and the cake with the bakery. We also had Randy there for the dinner, we just added an hour onto his package. But there was no music, or dancing, but you could do toasts and such.

Hope this helps.

Sorry - I am not trying to be rude by not responding! I usually read the boards at work and it's tough for me to post too much! :worried:

We are getting married on Monday, December 11th 2006 at the Wedding Pavillion at 10 am. We are asking our friends and family (we have 18 guests, including my fiance's 5 children) to come down and spend the weekend with us and then we are getting married on the Monday morning and then sending them all home. That way, Bob has a chance to spend some "special time" with the kids that weekend while I am running around doing wedding stuff.

We had originally wanted the gazebo until we went down in December 05 to have our engagement pictures taken in the MK and check things out. While I was there, I fell in love with the WP. It's funny, I've never been that big a fan of the WP (always thought it was a bit much for me) but somehow it was different when I was standing there with him. :flower3:

I have already booked the MK bridal photo session - we are doing it the same day as the wedding so that we can just relax when that day is over. That's easier for me, though, since my dress has no train so it doesn't drag on the ground.

I'll also be adding some additional floral :rose: my two nieces are my "attendants" so they are carrying the triple rose "wand" that Disney floral does and I want the moms to have flowers attached to a small purse that they can use that day. (I'm not a big fan of corsages!)

I am so excited to be a Disney bride! This is my first (only!) wedding even though Bob was married before, so I am trying to balance my fairy tale dreams and the reality of a new blended family (okay, it's really me in a blender...lol) and the Disney Intimate has come up just right for us!

Happy planning and hooray for December 06 brides! :bride:

I talked to our EM and she told me that it is a new add on for the intimate brides to do and that I could wear my wedding dress to the IDP as long as I made the reservation with DFTW. Hopefull this can clear some things up- and if any Intimate brides are not 100% sure if they can do something I would say to call your EM and ask them afterall that is what they are paid to do - help brides out with their wedding. :cool1:

Do you know how far in advance the intimate wedding can book the party?

We had our dinner at Artist Point in Wilderness Lodge they are really great there. I would highly recommend them . They did a custom supper menu for us even though we were a small party only 8 they treated us wonderfully. I loved the food. 7 years later and I STILL remember how good the soup was!!
If I was to do it all over again I would still pick them.

I was told that I could start the booking process on mine now and we're not getting married until December 19th. Talk to your EM to see what they can do for you. Ours is going to add it into our contract for us.

That is our date too! December 21 at 4pm at the Wedding Pavilion. I hope we don't have to fight it out.... :rotfl:
