Long story short we will be canceling our nights we have booked at HH and spend our whole week in Florida.

We are hoping to stay anywhere at WDW in a studio or one bedroom checking in 10/22/11 and checking out 10/25/11 (3 nights). Right now there is no availability anywhere. On Tuesday 10/25/11 we'll be taking our rental car over to stay at Vero Beach before we fly home on Friday 10/28/11. Vero Beach is already booked.

Here are my questions:

I am planning to waitlist for a One Bedroom and a Studio at SSR. Will this give me my best chance for a room?

Right now Disney is showing availability at SSR and other DVC resorts for the nights we want for cash. If Disney does not rent these rooms for cash will they put them back available to use for points at any time?

If worse come to worse I am planning to use points to stay at a Moderate resort. I have never done this. I have read that you can do this up to two days before you check in. Are there usually rooms available last minute for this?

Also for our original vacation we have used 137 points. With new plans we could use as little as 107 points. For the original vacation we used 69 of our June 2011 points and borrowed 68 points from June 2012. I know borrowed points can not be put back but if we use 30 less points can I insist that these 30 points be from our June 2011 points so I could bank them?

Sorry for being long winded but any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I just had a waitlist for a studio at OKW come thru for the nights of Oct 19th and 20th. I had been calling for weeks, and there has been no availability on those dates for a long time. I was only on the waitlist for a couple of weeks when it came thru.

If you are within the banking deadlines, you can use the borrowed points for your reservation and bank the current use year points. Sometimes you have to mention that to the CM, sometimes they tell you that's what they're doing, just be sure it's done that way.

Probably, since SSR is the largest resort and has the most studio and 1 bedroom villas.

Explanation is a bit long, but the answer is no.

Hard to say. No guarantees. Assume you know that if you make a reservation at a non-DVC WDW resort, you'll have to pay a $95 fee. I do not know how far in advance you have to make the reservation - unless you are sure it is 2 days in advance, give MS a call and verify. Remember that once you make the non-DVC reservation, you can't cancel and use the points for a DVC resort.

MS should automatically use the borrowed points first so that the "extra" 30 points can be banked. Make sure you verify your points status with the CM before you hang up. If the CM didn't do what yu wanted, that's the time to get it straightened out.

Hope your waitlist comes through soon.

I have been told the 48 hours (2 days) also by MS. Availability I don't know about though.

We had to use points to book a moderate last year...Our resale contract went through and we had to use the points or lose them, so we booked at the Cornado and spent the first night there. I think the points used for how little room you actually get is really high, but we needed somewhere to stay! (we had to book 2 bedrooms to fit the family)

Anyhow, I would call and see what is available for that category. I had to call several times for a week to find 2 rooms available since our trip was only 3 weeks away.. 2 days might not be enough...:confused3 Good luck and have a great time when you get there!
