Lost UPS package??

I sent my sister her Christmas gift 3 weeks ago. The tracking number says it delivered on 12/21 yet my sister has not received it? The tracking page says "left at door".

I went to the UPS store where I sent it and told them and they keep telling me "the manager will call you" etc .

Should I just consider it a loss or is there anything else I can do?
 
Try to call 1-800 pickups and file a claim. You will need your tracking number. Was it insured?
 
I seem to recall reading some posts from other Dis members about UPS delivering packages but if nobody answers the door they kind of hid them out of the weather.

It's possible it's at a different door or in an odd spot. Have her check around the outside of the house.

I suppose it's also possible someone took it from the front door.


My delivery guy that sometimes drops off larger packages knows to come to the side door as that is where I usually am. I wasn't doing daycare last week and confused him as I answered the front door-he was at the side door.
 

We had issues in RI this holiday season with thieves following the UPS trucks and stealing packages from unattended homes. Happened to someone I know and the local police said it happened to a number of people. I would push UPS and maybe contact the local police? Horrible that people have sunk to this level!
 
You may want to check, I am pretty certain UPS automatically comes with $100 insurance.

Yep, automatic $100 insurance.

I also think if a few packages go missing from a neighborhood, the UPS drivers are no longer allowed to just leave things at the door anymore.
 
I've noticed all the thefts in our area also when packages are just left at the door. Our UPS here just rings the doorbell and leaves. They used to have to get a signature because we have signed for our neighbors and they have signed for us - guess that takes too long :confused3
 
We just had this happen through the christmas season. Package said delivered and we were home all day and live on street where can hear a truck coming before it even gets to our street. We know it wasn't delivered to our house.
We called the retailer of the store we made the purchase from, they put the trace on it (First time I called trace was not done correctly). Second time the trace was put on, it magically was delivered 7 business days later. We reported it missing on Dec. 9 it showed up on Dec 28. Don't give up. Keep calling. We looked on line at the parcel delivery company's website and it had said to contact the retailer to report it missing. Retailer put trace on it and if parcel company couldn't find it then they would issue a refund. It seemed like it took forever but don't give up.
