I'm just too scared to even look at this thread throughout today, as we are going to watch the finale tonight! After 6 years, I'm terrified of seeing it spoilt on the Internet on the last day! I will be back with comments after watching it though.

All I can say right now is that I doubt it will live up to every ones expectations, as nothing this hyped up normally does. That doesn't mean it won't be great, just that it has a bit of an impossible burden to be satisfying to everybody.

Personally, I feel that a lot of stuff will still be left unresolved or open to interpretation. Due to it's phenomenal success, I would be very surprised if we didn't see the show carried on in some way. Whether this be a game, books, movie or another spin-off series with different characters I don't know, but there is too much money in this brand still.

I hope you all enjoy it! :goodvibes

No predictions from me as I've already seen it - it was great, though, I absolutely loved the ending although I'm very sad that it's over.

I shouldn't have put my make-up on until it had finished though :sad1:

I loved the ending ! Yes things were unresolved but the major questions were answered well enough for me though

I loved it too and thought it ended well.
Sure theres loads of unanswered questions but to be honest im not fussed about them. :goodvibes

Still don't know where the polar bear came from though :confused3

Wasn't it always the plan that they wouldn't answer all the questions in the final episode, but would leave some for the special extended version DVD that they are to release?
If you ask me thats a bit like watching extra time in an FA Cup final, then them switching the coverage off before penalties but telling you it will be included on the DVD that will be released in a month or twos time

Kenny, I think they said ont he special programme 'The End is Nigh' that they were leaving some smaller questions unanswered/mysteries unsolved. For some reason, the polar bear thing is the only one that's actually bothering me :lmao:

i never watched it but i think they may do a dallas, some one comes out of the shower and its all been a dream.

Didn't the polar bear swim over from Hydra Island where it was being studied (that's what the cages were originally for.)

Who built the statue, that's what I want to know?

My thoughts below.

I'm not satisfied at all really, that was the ending I guessed since the whole alternate reality thing started unfolding.

Like we can assume, unless the plane crashed and they all died instantly upon espacing the island, that Kate, Sawyer etc. Got off the island and had a life without Jack/Juliette, so why would "heaven" be them re-united with them? Wouldn't they have gone on to marry/have kids, in which case heaven might get a bit crap for them if they remember that... I know Jack's Dad explained why they were all together, but it wasn't enough for me. I am glad it was Hurley who ran the island, and that he did a good job. I was also pleased that Ben didn't go into the "church" as it shows he still has some redemption to go before he can. Good touch.

Overall it wasn't bad, but I wanted at one point to be astounded and go "WOW", instead we jsut sort of went, 'oh'. Nice to have a happy ending though, I'll give it that.

I sat watching it with my 17yr old with a big lump in my throat. Didn't want it to end so I might just have to watch it again on my own with a box of tissues :rotfl:

I was overwhelmed, I cried and cried - I truly thought it was amazing.. Its very sad, I can't stop thinking about it, and didn't sleep at all well last night lol

i loved it too..
i don't think they answered the questions, because they don't have answers...and it doesn't matter....
the ending was perfect....

my thoughts:
first of all, the big question that i wanted answered (unless i missed it) was why is hurley called hurley.
secondly, did anyone notice the fact that we didnt learn the imposters name when he and jacob where little kids, their "mother" didnt even say it(fake John Locke)
thirdly, how can the place where they end up meeting supposed to be a way for when they die, surely hurley, ben, desmond, Kate, Rose, Benard, and Sawyer didnt die, we didnt see them die, unless they mysteriously collapse, and also why did Jack end up with Juliet in it, well was with her, as they obvisley broke up, (they have a son together), hopefully these will be answered on friday where there will be a behind the scenes look on the final episode

thanks

In respone to marcm:

Yeah, we noticed that, I’m not sure why, maybe to make him more mysterious.....would take the ring out of ‘the man in black’

thirdly, how can the place where they end up meeting supposed to be a way for when they die, surely hurley, ben, desmond, Kate, Rose, Benard, and Sawyer didnt die, we didnt see them die, unless they mysteriously collapse,

They didn’t die (well obviously they did at some point, everyone does), as Christian said to Jack at the end, the final place is timeless, some of the people there died before him, some after him and some long after him.

and also why did Jack end up with Juliet in it, well was with her, as they obvisley broke up, (they have a son together),

I think it was because they had a brief relationship on the island and it was a way to make Sawyer and her meet up.

I think the finale was terrible. so much unanswered, like who were actually the others, why did they take people from the camp, whose list did they have (jacobs?). The polar bear was in the hurley's comic book in the pilot so I think there was something there but it was said that they were studying the polar bears over at hydra. Also the six numbers that kept showing up (which hurley won the lotter) they were the numbers on the cave next to hurley sayid locke, jack, kwon and sawyer's names. I did think that the closing of jack's eye at the end was good since the pilot opened with him opening his eye. Then the thing about walt, why did he know things. Also the statue, I can go on and on but I guess I need to get on with my life and just forget it since it is only fiction.

i kinda liked the end though im still not sure. I liked seeing the endings for the characters and it does make sense to me but i do with they explained alot more about what the point of the stuff happening on the island was.

Never was expecting to get everything answered though

I thought that the finale was emotionally very satisfying. I think the true meaning of the word 'Lost' was always about these peoples souls, and never about where they actually where. As a finale to a character study, I was very happy where they all ended up.
The series has made me feel many emotions over the years, such as why even successful and fortunate people can end up feeling 'lost' and unhappy in themselves and their lives, and how the choices and decisions we make can affect who we are so massively. I loved that the series was left on an optimistic note with regards to redemption. It truly is never too late to make amends, or to change your situation.
I am kind of glad that there is so much mystery still left unexplained, which leaves it consistent with the show as a whole. At the end, what mattered was the time that these people spent with each other and the things they experienced together, which is ultimately what I feel matters in all of our lives.
If you have the time, there is a fantastic video on Youtube where the creator JJ Abrams talks about a box he was given as a kid, that contained something inside of it. He has never opened this box over all the years he has had it, as he says that the mystery of what 'could' be inside it is more interesting and inspiring than what probably is inside of it. This was the whole starting idea for the show, and I would really recommend giving it a watch.
On a side note, I feel that the acting in the finale was outstanding, and everyone really upped their game to deliver a great farewell to their characters. Sawyer and Juliet at the vending machine particularly comes to mind. :thumbsup2
