LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

So did Jae commit suicide b/c of the shame? He was given mercy and then ended up dead. He didn't look like a man who was ready to die when Jin was with him. So how'd he end up on Jin's car? :confused3

Personally.. My first thought was that Sun's father was lurking about - waiting to see if Jin did the job or not and when he realized that Jin "failed" he intervened and threw Jae over the railing....

I'm getting a little annoyed with Juliet. Kate should have whacked that gun out of her hand. Sawyer definately knows what he's doing and will get them out of there.

What's with Kate anyway? She seems so meek, but in flashbacks she is anything but.

That was my thought too. But the dialogue was clearly developed such that Jae thought Jin knew about the affair, so maybe?

I don't get that vibe at all. What makes you say that?

I was wondering how soon it was from the time Jae died and the plane crash? So if Sun is carrying Jae's child, how far along would she be? Why were Sun and Jin going to the US again? I can't remember.

They were going to the US because he was supposed to deliver something for her father, and he had plans for the two of them to disappear once he made the delivery. She was going because she was going to walk off at the airport and disappear as well - she ended up changing her mind at the Sydney airport when she was supposed to meet with the people who would get her away and stayed with him.

Second, I agree that it seemed that Ben wants that boat to get himself off of the island but remember what one of them said? That Sayid, Sun and Jin would be "going around in circles." Would this be due to the magnetic force? If so, how was Michael and Walt able to go home?

Don't forget that Henry/Ben gave them a specific compass bearing that they had to follow to find their way out. Almost reminds me of when news commentators discussing the space shuttle, and how there are certain windows in the atmosphere that they must get through in order to get the shuttle to space. So it seems there is some sort of something that prevents anyone from leaving or entering the island except from this one window. There clearly has to be SOMETHING for someone to make supply drops, so I don't think he was lying when he told Michael (like he said, if Michael tells anyone about what the island, he'd also have to tell them what he did - and he's clearly ashamed of his desperation and actions) And the directions to get out, may not necessarily simply be reversed to get back so even if someone leaves and tells them about this island they probably don't have the directions to get back if they organize a search and rescue.

Plus, if Henry/Ben wanted the sailboat so bad to leave the island, why wouldn't he have just used the boat that he gave Michael?

Don't know if she's working with the others, but there is something wrong with her, way too meek; even my kids noticed.
lori

I get the feeling that she's being meek on purpose - trying to give them a false sense of security over time so she has a better chance of catching them off guard.

Either that or Ben did "something" to her during their little beach side breakfast.

That was my DH's theory- he said it was not in her nature to be so meek and mild. Even when terrible things have happened to her in the past- she kicked butt! I just don't get why she is being so passive unless she cut a deal with the others....

That boat was a simple little motor boat, it would run out of gas eventually. A sailboat wouldn't need gas at all. They are somewhere far away from the "mainland". I don't think Ben had any intention of Michael and Walt getting completely away.

So, what do you think is Juliet's and Ben's relationship after last night??

I first thought they hated each other, but last night when she knocked on that door and he came out with a sly grin and raised eyebrows it seemed like maybe they have something going on????

I think Ben and Juliet are/were married or living together. During the premiere episode, when they were at Juliet's house for the book club. One guy mentioned how he hated the book that was chosen and that isn't it up to the host to pick the book. And shouldn't they wait for Ben. Juliet got angry and answered that she was the host and that she loved that book.

You know the thing with Juliet and Ben, I wonder if one is the parent of the other. And before anyone says that's not possible this is Lost you know. :teeth:

What about Sun shooting that woman on the boat? (I can't remember her name...the one that told Ben there was a boat in the first place.) She made it pretty clear that if Sun shot her, then they would no longer be helpful to them, but would then actually BECOME their enemies. There's definately gonna be backlash on that and it will be taken out on our losties, one way or another. Ben is going to be p*ssed that she's dead. The way Juliet talked to her, it seemed that she and Ben had something going that broke up Juliet and Ben...

Also, what about Sayid? Is he really aborting the mission and going back to camp?

I had the feeling that Sun actually pushed him over the railing...especially since he had the pearls in his hand.....then when the girl on the boat told Sun that she wouldn't shoot her.....she did. I took that as.....you (the others) don't know me (Sun) at all, I am capable of killing. JMHO.

Judging by how advanced their homes are and the fact they've lived there for decades I'd imagine they'd have more than enough fuel. We don't actually know how far they are from the mainland - they're keeping us on our toes about just how isolated this island really is (hinting that it's in the middle of the antarctic in the finale)

They never actually tell us she's dead though. We see that she was shot, but we don't know the extent of her injuries. People survive gunshots all the time, and don't forget. . . they have the services of a surgeon now with Jack.

No way. I dont' think Sun killed Jae at all. I think it either was suicide, or Sun's father.

I didn't get that vibe either, but something must have happened at breakfast with Ben. DId you see the marks from the cuffs on her wrists? When she was hacking at the rocks, her wrists look very sore still.
