LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

Only the series regulars are in the photo. The actors who play Rose and Bernard are 'guest stars' not series regulars.

It has to do with their contract status. The 'regulars' are basically locked into Lost. The others can likely do other things at the same time.

Soap operas are a good example of this type of casting. Contract regulars have airtime guarentees and other benifits. Then there are recurring characters who don't have the same benifits but fill in the canvas.

Ugh!!! I thought I was actually on to something. :rotfl:

I think I finally figured it all out. I know the secret to Lost. It's all a dream that Walt is having and at the show, he is going to wake up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette!!

If Lost turns out to be any kind of dream, I think abc would have an angery mob on their hands.

I was being funny. There's a pop reference in there that fans of a certain show will appreciate ;)

About Walt, I wonder if maybe his step-father worked for Hanso/Dharma. Someone posted before that they saw the emblem on the ceiling of the house they were living in when Michael came to pick Walt up. That could be how the group got Walt on the plane, didn't the step-father buy the plane tickets?

I get it too! I don't think I ever laughed so hard at the end of a show! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Sorry, briefly off topic:

MaryJ, couldn't agree with your more regarding Beauty & The Beast....after the opening number I wanted to stand up and applaud...thought I was on broadway there for a while! ::yes::

Back on topic:

I think we should send Obi-Wan Pinobi to work with JJ and the writing staff ::yes::

I'm new to this thread but have been watching LOST since the beginning.

I agree that most of the characters have done something major in the past that they need to atone for. I believe there are several different "tribes" of others on the island who are there due to some type of accident.

LOST group from a downed plane (actually 2 groups just reunited)
Danielle was stranded
Drug plane crashed
Others got there somehow

Maybe there are more groups. That could mean that Ethan didn't come from the OTHERS.

I do agree that there is something odd about Rose and Bernard. There story has not been told so we don't know what brought them there.

:sulley: Imagine getting paid this much to get Lost??!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: Man I need a new job

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- The cast of ABC's "Lost" has even more to cheer about beyond the show's recent Golden Globe win for best drama series.

"Lost" producer Touchstone Television has offered all original members of the large ensemble cast a substantial salary bump in exchange for an additional year to the actors' current contracts. The studio's pre-emptive offer would see the actors earn almost $80,000 each an episode next season, the show's third, up from a range of about $20,000-$40,000 for most cast members this season.

All original cast members, including Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, Naveen Andrews, Dominic Monaghan, Terry O'Quinn, Jorge Garcia, Daniel Dae Kim, Yunjin Kim and Harold Perrineau, have been offered the same deal and are expected to take it. Fox, who plays the pivotal role of Jack, is said to have earned an extra bonus of at least $250,000.

However, in the spirit of the show where no character is safe from being killed off or otherwise removed from the mysterious island where the series is set, the actors are said to have no guarantees about the length of their tenure on the show.

Representatives for Touchstone TV and all "Lost" cast members declined comment for this report. ABC and Touchstone are owned by Walt Disney Co.

The substantial raise would put the "Lost" actors on par with what the ladies of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" are now making, industry sources said. The core "Housewives" quartet of Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria, who also started off in the $20,000-$40,000 range, all reportedly received bonuses of $250,000 midway though the show's first season as well as equal salary bumps for Season 2, bringing their per-episode fees to the high-five to low-six figures, depending on each actress' starting salary.

This is understood to be the first salary bump for the "Lost" cast members, who reportedly received a bonus of an extra episode fee between Seasons 1 and 2.

"Lost," which boasts one of the largest casts and the highest production values in primetime, has been a passion project for most of the actors on the show.

When actors sign on to do a network pilot, they are automatically committed to long-term deals that usually run at least five years. It's common industry practice that when a show is a big hit, cast members are rewarded with salary bumps and bonuses beyond the studio's contractual obligations. "Lost" has been the rare combination of a critical and commercial hit for ABC, earning a rabid worldwide following, the Emmy last year for best drama series and the drama series Golden Globe last week.

"Lost" has done very well in DVD sales, finishing 2005 as the second-best-selling TV-DVD with 1.04 million units sold, according to trade publication Home Media Retailing, and it has been the driving force for the 1.5 million downloads of Walt Disney Co.-produced series that Apple's iTunes music store has sold for viewing on iPods since Disney struck its groundbreaking download-on-demand licensing pact with Apple in October.

A new-media spinoff designed for cell phones, "Lost Video Diaries," is slated for launch on Verizon V Cast service this month.

I didn't see this mentioned...but keep in mind that I saw the episode when it aired last Wednesday. It seemed to me that Jin understood English again. He and Sun were speaking in their native tongue and he asked her what was going on between Kate and Hurley on the beach. She explained that some of them were going to look for Michael. He then started to take off and she asked him what he was doing and he told her something like, "they just left a few minutes ago, I can catch up to them". She never gave him that information.

There have been other times that it has seemed that Jin understood what was being said around him. I don't know if these are mistakes in continuity, or if he really understands more than he is letting on.

So far this episode hasn't impressed me. Kind of boring...and seems unnecessary in that it hasn't really moved the plot along much. :confused3

Well THAT was anti-climatic! Next episode looks good but must be a RERUN next week since they didn't say "Next week on Lost..."

I agree, I wasn't impressed with that episode either. I like charlie, they are making me not like charlie:(

I think he "understands" Michael and Walt...and can put the 2 together.

otherwise - last night

BORING!

I'm new to the Lost thread, but I'm a big Lost fan!

That scene where Charlie was yelling at Claire in the middle of the show (I think he was talking about baptizing Aaron) and the camera focused on Loche's face gave me the creeps. Loche is giving me the heebie-jeebies lately. I'm not sure why. He just is.

It looks like Sun will be kidnapped next week. And, when Jack asks Loche for the guns, it looks like Loche may give Jack a hard time. Is that because the statues are in there? Was Loche changing the lock last night so no one else can get to the guns and statues?

Will Hurley and Libby get together? I like Hurley! He gives perfect comic relief over and over. Isn't she a psychiatrist? I'm wondering if they met in the past (however briefly) because he spent some time in a mental institution.

Doesn't Charlie still have the statue that Eco gave him?

No word on Walt or Michael last night.........I'm impatiently waiting to see more about these two.

Locke was definitely changing the combo last night but why?

Charlie put the statue Eko gave him with the rest and so it's now sitting in the vault with the guns.

I hate that they've made Charlie such an outcast, I hope it gets resolved soon.
