I am wondering what happens if one of my children loses their room key. They are 9 and 11 and I haven't decided yet if they'll carry them or me(probably me) but they may want to go ride something w/out me. Just curious if this has ever happpened to anyone on these boards.

Just go to the front desk and say you lost your keys. You will probably need to show an ID before they give out replacements.

No problem, essmom, my son is 10 so I understand your dilemma!

I actually lost MY key at the Royal Pacific and had to get a replacement at the front desk. I did have to show ID and they cancelled the lost key in the computer.

Thanks. I'll probably carry them for them since we 'll be together all the time but Mom may want to sit a minute and have a drink while they ride some more rides. and they will have to be responsible for the keys.

essmom- I lost mine on MIB - must have put it in my pocket after using it to go through FOTL - I figure it flew out while we were spinning. We got right back in line to ride again (our bags were in the lockers) and that's when I realized it was gone. Everyone was great - sent me right down to the ride loaders to see if anyone had handed it in, they immediately called guest services at the front of the park to notify them to suspend charging, etc.(they said tons of things are 'thrown' from MIB- they collect them at the end of the day). We did have to walk to the front of the park to guest services where they called RPR to notify them to change the room lock code and they gave me a temp card to use for FOTL that day - when we got back to RPR they gave me a new card and reprogrammed DS's card - no problem at all except for the inconvenience - and my temporary anxiety that someone might be charging up a storm in the meantime - my own fault!

In the parks I carry my son's room key with mine in a zippered pocket in my fanny pack. On our recent trip, he did manage to lose his room key, however. He was at the HRH pool while DH and I had dinner at the Kitchen. When the pool closed, he came in to join us (yes, he was dripping wet!) and apparently left his room key on the table. We did not discover this fact until the next morning. He went to the Kitchen to see if they had it (no). He was very upset because he thought he would not have FOTL while DH whisked by him in the lines! I simply went to the front desk with him and got a replacement and was grateful that he did not have charging privileges on his card!

Yes. Just tell them at check in which keys you want to have charging privileges and which you don't. DS did not get charging privileges since I though he might lose his key! I have considered asking for a low limit ($15-20 or so) on his card in the future so he can get himself something to eat while playing at the pool. I don't know if you can get cards with different limits, however.

I am sure that last year someone posted they put a low limit on their kids cards so hopefully it can be done:jester:
