 We lost our Pal and my youngest is very sad. We originally got up at 7am the first day they were available for sale at the resorts in April and used him all week at the parks. We were lucky to get back for Memorial Day Weekend and my 7 year old had him as we went on Buzz Lightyear at MK. We then went to the race cars with a small wait and as we were getting off a look of panic came over his face. We ran back to Buzz and they looked in back and said no - check later. We did check late and no luck. We stopped at City Hall and gave info too and have been home almost a week and have heard nothing. It was left on the seat of Buzz and how can someone just keep it? I am having a hard time explaining this to a 7 year old. We had so much fun passing our Pal around to each other. A $50 each we will not be getting another one:( :( . I will tell you, keeping track of Pal Mickey is alot of work too. Children are drawn to them and it can be put down for a second and stolen - so be careful. I wish they had a string on them. They do attach to a belt or bag but with the noise in the parks you need to bring it to your ears to hear what he is saying. Thus - the passing back and forth and the chance a child will put it down. Maybe I should write about the string suggestion, but all this doesn't help the tears and hurt of a 7 year old. It broke my heart in MK to have him cry. I almost bought another one but I really had faith in mankind - I lost that too.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I am so sorry.:( It's bad enough losing a child's toy, but when the toy is $50, it hurts even more. Maybe they should put a place where you can put your contact info on it as well as the string you suggested. But there are mean people out there, so even if you had your name on it, it doesn't guarantee that they would return it.

I'm so sorry you lost your pal mickey! You have provided a good reminder for those that do have them. Thanks!

That is so sad! I know how much those cost and I cannot believe that someone would just keep it w/o turning it in!??!

I remember the last time we were at WDW, I found a pkg. in one of the rides ... and it contained pretty pierced earrings. Sure, it would have been nice to play "finders keepers" but I knew that there was someone out there who was disappointed to lose them. On the advice of the CM in charge of the ride, we took them to City Hall, hoping that someone would check for them. The CM told us she'd tell them to look at City Hall.

I happened to stop in at CH the next day and the same CM was there ... and I asked her if anyone claimed them. Sure enough, a little girl came in asking for them and she was delighted that they were still there.

Unfortunately, someone probably saw it was MPM and thought "jackpot" and kept it for themselves. I think that stinks! However, I am hopeful that he still turns up!

A thought for those purchasing MPM -- maybe you can get an ID tag w/your name and resort to put on him?! They have those machines at pet stores & WalMart. It may sound stupid, but you might have better luck at getting him turned in.

Good luck to you!

Poor kid -- it's a hard lesson to learn about dishonest people. I'm always amazed when our stuff is turned in, we've had everything returned we ever lost. It's never been anything as nice as MPM.

Althought I have not seen a Pal Mickey. It should be easy enough to require some sort of key or password without which the Pal would be useless (much like the Segway). In fact, I'm suprised it doesn't have one already. Also, since it accesses a wireless network, there should be a tracking station in security that can track down your unique Pal should it be used by someone else. Much like a Lojack system. When Mickey gets near a store or security guard he could start beeping and screaming, "Help I've been MouseKnapped." :-)

Wow! That stinks :( I lost my little waterproof box at TL last year when the string snapped off. I didn't realize until much later in the afternoon. That did not get returned either, probably because it had $50 in cash inside.

Maybe you should give City Hall a call ... There is a small chance it could have been turned in and they're too busy to call?

That’s sad. What really makes me mad is that if it was left on Buzz, the CM’s should have noticed it when they were unloading and loading the cars. How could they not see it just sitting there all alone? It would be nice if Disney would replace it. I’m not saying it’s their responsibility, but it would be NICE. As far as explaining it to your son, if he doesn’t know already, it’s about time he learn that there ARE bad people out there. And maybe it will also be a lesson to be more careful with his toys (especially a $50 one!)

Could someone tell me about how big Pal Mickey is? I am thinking of getting one for DD, but am concerned about her losing it. We were thinking of making a Snugli type thing for it, or using her doll's baby backpack, but wonder if it will fit.

Oh No:eek: ! I'm so sorry that happened ! We lost a cell phone at WDW and we got it back three weeks after we got home-so there's hope for your daughter to get her Pal Mickey back !

mcnuss, I saw on another site that Pal Mickey is 10 1/2 inches tall.

Our Pal Mickey has a 7 or 8 digit number inside that would be an identification number. Perhaps that number could have WDW shut that unit down thereby making the Pal Mickey useless. It won't help you get him back but it would keep the thief from enjoying him. (I'm going to write that nu ber down for the next time we take him to WDW).

You have to admit that the irony of losing is toy that tells you and your family exactly where you are for an entire week is somewhat amusing. However, it's still sad :(

Its too bad that nobody turned it in, but we all know that there are less than honest people out there. Always have been, always will be. You can't let that cloud your view of most of mankind.

Regarding Disney being able to "shut down" that Pal Mickey, I don't think they can. Its true that he is "activated" by signals in the parks, but he also talks whenever you squeeze his hand or tummy, including when you are at home, so I don't think Disney could stop that. Even if they could, a dishonest person would still be happy to have a 10 1/2 inch plush non-talking Mickey.

The string (or something similar) is actually a good idea. We had a close call when my son left Mickey behind in a store on Main Street, but fortunately we noticed a few minutes later and Mickey was still there.

In another post about Pal Mickey I saw that someone recommended using a bottle strap to carry Mickey. I have already attached one to our Mickey for use on our next trip. This will make putting him up to your head to listen easier and he won't have to be unclipped all the time.

Can someone tell me what "My Pal Mickey" is and what he does? I searched the Disney website, but can't find anything on him.

For your little one but the dishonest person who took it will only have bad luck, what gos around comes around. He will lose something he values much and it will not be returned to him.I have seen this happen to mean dishonest people many times in my life.I really believe this the person who did this will not profit from this theft.

Don't give up hope, yet. There is a number that you can call to check to see if someone turned him in (407) 824-4245. They have a great system to track lost items, but it is still run by humans...it never hurts to call. We lost something a few years ago and they didn't call. On a whim, I called and they had the item and we arranged to have it sent home (at our expense).

I know he is missing your son and wants to come home....too bad they don't have GPS or something!
