So yesterday I go to Target to do some last minute shopping. As I am heading down the main aisle toward the checkout, I remember that we are out of soap. I turn around, go back to the soap aisle, grab a multipack of Dove soap, and go to the checkout.

I check out and wheel the cart out to the car. I deposit the bag into the trunk, and return the cart to the cart return.

I get home, unpack the bag, and hide the presents. Six hours later I'm sitting on the couch and I think, "wait a minute...I don't remember unpacking the soap." I check the bag; nope, empty. I check the present hiding place...nope. I get the receipt out. I was not charged for soap.

Where did the soap go? I *DID* put it in my cart. :confused3

The same exact thing happened to me last weekend. I KNOW I bought a gift bag for my nephew's birthday gift. I KNOW it was the very last thing I put in my cart. I KNOW I put it onto the grocery conveyor belt.

I get home, unload the groceries and other stuff. Made supper, cleaned up and then went to wrap up the gift and put it in the gift bag. WHERE's the gift bag????? Looked at my receipt but I was never charged for it. :confused3

Did the cashier just decide that she liked the gift bag that I chose and decide to keep it at her side for her future purchase????

I think the gift bag and the dove soap might be in the same place that those lost socks are having a rip-roaring party.

You can have mine. DH accidently got the "super-scented" Dove the other day.

The cashier probably put it into a separate bag so it wouldn't smell up the rest of your purchases, and forgot to give you thebag.

The last time I "lost" something I had put in my cart it was a 12 pack of beer. I put it on the bottom, never put it on the conveyer, and never retrieved it from the bottom when I loaded the groceries into my car. At least I didn't get something I didn't pay for, but I bet it made someone pretty happy!

This happens to me all the time! Of course, I think my 2 year old might have something to do with my items turning up missing. One day, she was sitting in the cart slowly returning all of my items to the closest shelf. She's such a stinker.

:lmao: This gets my vote!

Chances are the person that was behind you in the line got your soap. The cashier probably never rang it up for you, finished your order and you left. The next persons stuff got mixed in with your soap and they ended up with it!

I am in search of a box of cards. I bought them at rite aid the other day. Got a Merry Christmas sign picked up medicine and one box of cards. I have the medicine and the sign but those cards are missing. Yesterday I cleaned out the card and vacummed it so they were not left in the car and I searched the house. I just don't know where the went. :confused3

it was probably left on the conveyor belt and the next person was charged for it! I was once charged for a little recipe booklet at the grocery store that I did NOT get! I assume the person ahead of me planned on buying it, but the cashier forgot to ring it up and it was still laying around somewhere when it was my turn and she (cashier) assumed it was mine!

GEEZ! must be the week for lost items while shopping. I went to Dollar General the other day for my regular cleaning supplies and thot I would be nice and buy my cat some catnip and treats since it was Xmas. (I do not spoil pets --the furball has food water and a litterbox--good enuf LOL) Didnt upack the one bag till the next day cause I found a toy train for my DD and didnt want her to see it. Alas! No nip or treats to be found. Checked the car-no nip or treats. Checked the other bag of cleaners that I didnt feel like unpacking the nite b4--no nip or treats. HMMM...checked the receipt, YEP they charged me for them. Went back to the store--no nip or treats. Well there went 3 bucks plus the other 3 that I had to replace them with. (guilt trip that the poor kitty wouldnt have a treat) Whoever was behind me got a surpise extra bag.

I hate when stores put like 2 items in each bag then twirl that carousel bag thing around without taking the bag off to give you. For heaven's sake just stick the stuff in one bag as long as it is not heavy so I have less to unpack when I get home. :goodvibes OK I feel better now that I have griped.

And this is ONE of MANY Pet Peeves of mine. Customers Bag thier own stuff, place them in the cart, and ALWAYS leave an item or a WHOLE bag on my Counter! :confused3 Along with thier Keys/Cell phones/Wallets! HELLO! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!

Well, if there was a bagger at your register, and I didn't have to bag my own groceries, I would probably not forget stuff. I generally feel like I am doing the cashier a favor if I bag for myself, and would not think he or she would be upset if I accidentally left something there.

Ahem - I did not bag my own stuff. The cashier bagged it, handed it to me, and said "Have a nice day".

I KNOW I picked up a package of Nestles white morsels a few weeks ago. I remember distinctly picking it up and putting it in the cart. Then when it came time to make my crock pot candy it was no where to be found. My DH's theory is that it fell into the trash can (which is in the pantry). I tore the pantry apart and never found it. Had to make a quick run to the grocery store.

I *lost* a 12 pack of Bounty one time  Could someone please tell me how one goes about losing a 12 pack of Bounty?!? ;)

I'm sorry you lost your dove.

Sign up for the mailing list, I get free dove in the mail all the time.

What is crock pot candy? Whoa, that didn't come out right. :lmao:

I have actually paid for numerous candy bars, cokes, and magazines over the years that I never brought home--cashiers around here have a bad habit of not packing these items in bags but instead laying them up on the counter for you to take (I guess they assume they're for immediate use).

I try to remember to check for them before I leave the store but sometimes I forget. :guilty:

As for items you put in your cart but never paid for and never made it home, I would guess they got stuck somewhere along the conveyor belt and you didn't notice??

Socks: the owner of a laundromat told my sister that he regularly found socks stuck in the washing machine mechanisms--they can somehow work their way out of the tub and magically disappear inside the machine! Wonder if this is true or if he was pulling her leg??
