Lost luggage, what do I do now?

I just returned from a weeks vacation in the Pacific Northwest and Delta has lost my luggage! I went through the proper procedures at the airport and they took the luggage recipts and said it would be delivered to my home with in 24 hours. It has now been longer then 24 hours and I have not yet seen my luggage. I have been on the Delta home page and they do not have a phone number to contact anyone about the situation, only a fax number. I know that there is a form I can fill out and fax back, but I want to do that as a last resort. Right now I just want to talk to someone to confirm that they have found my luggage, or that it is on it's way. I will wait to fill out the paper work until it is confirmed that my luggage is officially lost.

So what do I do now?

Delta's main number is 1 800 221 1212. Call them and say "go to reservations" at the prompt. Keep answering the questions until you can get a real human being and tell him/her your situation.

We've lost bags twice through the years and they have always shown up after a day or two.

Good luck!

SKip the go reservations.. push 9 when the idiot lady starts talking on Delta. Then just pick a number for a human... They should be able to give you the local number for your lost baggage office. (Is it on your paperwork? sometimes they put the local number on there?)

I found this number in the local phone book for Delta Air Lines baggage service -- 800-325-8224

ETA: If your local phone book doesn't have a local number for Delta, try calling the airport and see if they can connect you with Delta's baggage office.

Good luck with that!

Our luggage has been missing since January 23, 2005.
Air Canada is still "tracing" it...

Fill out the forms...they won't ever confirm that it is "officially" lost.

Call the airport that you last saw it at, it may be in Lost and Found...
And if the 1-800 number puts you through to "World Tracing Baggage Service" you have reached the international call centre that handles customers for 20 major airlines..they DO NOT handle baggage, they just handle customers.

...again, good luck. Let us know!!:)
