Came home last Friday (7/22) and wanted to share a great lost and found experience.
My 9 yr. old son's retainer (in its case) was lost while at the Animal Kingdom.
The last time he remembered having it was in the car, when we were park hopping from MGM to Animal Kingdom. (He took it out to have a snack).
We figured he just left it in the car. Later in the day, we get back to the car in the parking lot and no retainer. Oh boy, costs $200 to replace. The retainer case did have our name and address on it, so we had a little hope.
At the parks, He would normally hand it to my wife and she would put it in the outer pockets of the backpack whenever he ate or drank. Search the backpack, no luck, but the outer pocket zipper was not zipped.
On to Guest Services. We didn't want to get the tram, since we were down at the opposite end of the tram stop and it was hot. So we drive to entrance of the AK, so my wife can check at guest services. Driving to the entrance of the park in a full parking lot is not easy. Had to take the cab/bus lane to the front. My wife went over to guest services while the rest of us waited in the cab area. The cabbies weren't happy about this and honked a few times.
At AK guest services they didn't have the retainer, but confidently told my wife 'if it's here we'll find it" and that all lost items from all the parks were sent to the kennel office at the ticket & transportation center at the end of the day. We were skeptical, but decided to check the following day at the T&TC.
They had it!!! In fact, they had it ready to mail to us since the name and address were on the case. In fact, the gentleman behind the counter remember logging it earlier that day.
Here's a tip: Need a pair of sun glasses. They have a trash bag full of them at lost and found.
Kudos to Disney!
