Just in mere curiosity but has anyone lost an expensive item (camera, phone, PDA, etc.) and actually go to the L&F place and find it?

I've heard of both nice and rude people (mostly nice) at the parks regarding lines, parade/fireworks locations, and what not but what about something lost.

Again, just curious.

My father had his cell phone clipped to his belt and lost it somewhere in Animal Kingdom. He's the kind of guy that would have had his whole day ruined over it. I send DH to Lost and Found all the while hearing from Dad and Mom that there was NO WAY that anyone would have turned it in.

Well, needless to say there it was!!! Happy day!

My best story--my sister's stroller was taken from the parking area of the Great Movie Ride at Disney Studios. She went to Lost and Found, and saw a husband and wife at Guest Relations with her stroller--they were trying to get refunds on their park tickets!!! Needless to day, she confronted them--they professed ignorance, saying they thought strollers were there for all guest use!!!

This was maybe our ugliest WDW experience. 99 percent plus of the guests would NEVER do such a thing!!!

I admit, my post is not to the point of your question, but it brought me back to our memorable Lost and Found experience.

Ok...this could be long story but a tear jerker.

We were there Sept. 18- 29th, however we were suppose to come home on the 28th but due to hurricane Jeanne we had to stay another night because our flight home was cancelled. The extra day that we had to stay was a Tuesday and my oldest dd who is 3 decided she wanted to do MK again to see Cinderella. Well we have a rule that Mr. Bear (that is equal to her security blanket...he goes everywhere and she can't sleep without him) has to stay in the hotel room so he doesn't get lost because we can't replace him. Well that last day she had hidden him in the bottom of the stroller and we didn't know it. Well the only place we were that day was in the MK and on the bus and the resort Port Orleans French Quarter, but just as we had explained he got lost. The only problem with that was it wasn't until she was going to sleep that night that she told us and this is 10pm. She was crying hesterically and say she can't leave FL without him and we had a 7:30am flight. Well I told the front desk and called Central Lost and found and put a report in. Well they keep it on file for one week and then they consider it gone. Well I called everyday and no luck so they extended it another week and in the mean time sent her a new stuffed animal (Oddball from the dalmations) with a letter from Mickey saying he is looking for it but isn't having much luck and he'll keep looking for another week but he hoped that Oddball would be a nice replacement for Mr. Bear. Well at the end of week two still no Mr. Bear...I was sure he was gone forever. Well week 3 and I was at work when a Fed Ex package shows up at the house, my step mom who was watching my girls called and told me about it and said can I open it it feel like you know who, well ..yep you guessed it Mr. Bear was back home. My DD cried when she saw him and said "Mommy Mickey is better than Santa he found Mr. Bear and He can do Anything" talk about Disney Magic. Well needless to say Mommy cried also, I think I missed that bear as much as she did. It is like a 3rd child in our house, he has a place setting for dinner and goes everywhere, and she has had him since birth. That is her lovey and he is home.

can't quite top the Mr Bear story, but a friend of my grandmother's went with the family back in roughly 95 and lost her wallet. She is kind of quirky- widower, refuses to believe in banks/checks/debit cards, etc sooo... lost around $800 CASH with her wallet. Phone call to L&F with description and a location of prob Pecos Bill's and within a half hour they called back on my cell (the dinosaur that it was back then) and asked for us to show up at town hall to calim her wallet.

With all the money still in it.

I was totally surprised by that one.
