Lost children's ID

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could make my own ID for my kids? All I can find online are kind of pricey. I was going to use rubber bracelets that I can get at our local dollar store, but my little boy is too small. They would slide right off his arm. I have found some slightly more affordable Tyvek bands...but I was wondering if you creative people can give me a hand.

I ordered the rubber braclets from shanrene.com. They were customized saying my childs name and then If I am lost call XXX-xxx-xxxx. It cost around 12.00 for 4 of them. They come in youth sized, you can pick the color, and they ship quickly. I haven't tried it on my three yr old but I think I am going to put it around her ankle so she can't take it off. Or you can take a bracelet and write your information on the inside of it.

Someone mentioned before - i think on another board - that they have used the engravable dog tags that you can make in those machines! I think I'm going to use that idea and just tie it to a belt loop and stick it in her pocket. Just with our cell phones on it and the fact that she has a heart murmmor in case of emergency.

My 6-and 5-yr. olds just went 7 days with the rubber bracelets from shanrene.com on their ankles. Wouldn't work on the 1-yr. old because her foot is too tiny to keep the bracelet on. My 11-yr. old had his rubber bracelet on his wrist. No one lost their bracelet.

We used the dog tags out of the machine a walmart, they had a POTC one, then we looped it through their belt loops, on it we put both of our cell phone numbers.

This is what I used for years. I found them in Sports Authority on accident right before a trip and have been using them since then, the kids are old enough to remember their info and all but now I use them for health issues.

We did the same thing. We had my daughter's name and our cell phone numbers. I got mine from Petco and was able to engrave on both sides so I had enough room to put her food allergy on one side as well.

When she didn't have pants/shorts with loops on them I put them on her shoes (when I did the shoes I tagged BOTH shoes....from some reason I was worried she might lose a shoe but hopefully not both )

I cast my vote for the whose shoes ID kit. I have used these for my kids for years!!!

They attach right on top of the laces of their shoes (only works well with lace ups, so if your kiddies are in sandals or crocs, forget about it), and it says very boldly across it that is it the ID so a helpful CM can easily spot it.

I always thought the lost kid ids were dumb, UNTIL we lost our 2 year old at the Not So Scary Halloween Party in Sept. VERY SCARY!

I just used address labels and wrote in permanent marker: "If I get lost, please call___________" and stuck it on the back of my son's shirt. I made one for each day of our trip plus a few extras.

I know some will think this is child abuse or something... but I write my cell (with area code) on their inner arm (so its not flashing everywhere) with a sharpie. That wont fall off and wont wash off until a couple good washings. I redo it each morning before we head out to the park.

most of us get the DISNEY luggage tags when u book thru them, so what i did was take the piece of paper out, turn it over write your info on it, out it take in and then everyday i attached it to their shorts. my kids thought it was cool to have it on. if your child doesnt maybe put it on the back loops so they dont notice it. help it helps

This is exactly what we are going to do!! My daughter is autistic so we need something for her. I was just telling my dh to get the luggage tags out so i can make one up. She got a smile safe kids id from school so we are going to put that in the luggage tag as well. We got two of them, so one goes on her, and one on us.

I print out a small credit card sized bit of info (their name, our name, cell phone numberes) and then I put a Disney character sticker in the corner and laminate them. I then put a pin through the top and attach it to their shirts. If you do this - just be sure to round the edges - laminated corners are sharp.

When kids were littler there was a little resistance - but they easily got used to it and loved seeing the character in the park that was on their nametag that day.

I made laminated cards(LGMH from Home Depot) with the kid's name on one side and our contact info on the other. Then I put them on an id badge holder and clipped it to the back of the girl's shorts or on their dresses or whatever. Fortunately we never got separated. I did show the kids who to go to in each park. We "practiced" each day by saying, if you were lost right now, who would you go to for help, etc. and what would you say or do. They were only 2 and 3 at the time and they seemed to do well with it. Here's a pick of the badges:

I ordered these bracelets. You cannot read them from a distance. You would probably have to hold the child's arm to be able to to read them. I was VERY happy with the ones I got. I wrote both mom's and Dad's cell phone #'s and was also able to have Tree nut/peanut allergy on the other side.
