Anyone know of someone that lost their camera on the boardwalk of The Yacht Club this past week? We found one, and I know I would be heartbroken if I lost my pictures. We called the surrounding resorts to see if anyone had reported it, but no luck.
I agree with RustyScupper- get the camera to Disney Lost & Found with information about where and when you found it.
The first picture I take on each of my memory cards is my name and cell phone number. I like to think most people are honest and will try to retun a lost camera if they can figure out who it belongs to.
For a more inventive and entertaining approach, see below!
We found a camera in the MK last year and we found the owners right away because they had taken a picture of their TTTW card which had their name and resort on it. A CM looked up their info. at our hotel and called them right away. They came and got it and were very appreciative. They left us a note at our front desk. We took a cute little picture with their camera that said, "From the family that found your camera. Enjoy the rest of your trip".
Unfortunately there is no identification, other than their pictures. And who knows if they were even a guest at The Yacht Club/Beach Club/Boardwalk because, as you know, lots of guests not staying at these resorts walk the boardwalks.
That was a great way to identify themselves, taking a pic of their card!
If it was turned in, Disney is very good at trying to find the owner. If you submit a report to lost and found, they will ask you to describe it and the pictures on it. They send cameras to people all the time. If you don't ask, you wont get it back. Then it will be sold cheap to CM's and the money given to charity.
There is also a website called "I found your camera" -- just Gooogle that and you'll find it. You can send photos to them and then people who lost cameras can hopefully find them.
I like the idea of taking a picture of your card with name on it. You could also just put an address lable sticker on your camera before leaving home and then there's no trouble at all in knowing who's it is.
I used to take the picture with my address, but then thought that may not be such a great idea if I lose it while on vacation. Someone would be able to easily figure out your home is empty. Not a huge risk, but one to consider.
My suggestion is Name, cellphone number, e-mail address.
