Lost AP--Is it really $20 to replace?

Lost DD's AP (searching the house as one of the kids may have taken it out of my wallet to play with it.) Saw an older thread that they charge $20 to replace. Anyone have to pay this recently, or manage to get the fee waived?
Also, where do we go to get the replacement? It'll be busy when we get there & I don't want to waste time standing in the wrong line.
Thanks!

Yes, have had to pay the fee in the past. I think any ticket window can handle it, but don't quote me on that. We went to Guest Services outside the entry gates and they took care of it for us, but this has been over 5 years ago so that could have changed.

Yes, we had to pay last year. We had been in DL and then went over to RFC for dinner. When it was time to go back to the park, I searched and searched but could not find dd's AP. We went to the ap processing center (they let us in to do so) and replaced it for $20.

I later discovered that the original ap was in my wallet the whole time. It had stuck itself against one of the other aps and you couldn't tell!

Yes, I just had to do this a few weeks ago. I did it at the Guest Services window. You can get a 1-day courtesy pass for free once, but after that you have to pay the $20.

I was so annoyed - I took my AP out of my wallet as I was pulling into Mickey and Friends. I had it under my iPod, and then I must have moved my iPod, and the AP was gone! I've looked everywhere and it's still missing.

I did lose my AP when I was at DL last year, but someone returned it to me at guest services outside the park entrance the next day. I remember I lost it when I was on BTMRR and it was in my pocket, than my DA and I were about to get FP for Splash, it was gone. I went back on the ride to find it and could not. I was about to go to the AP center to get a replacement, but I decided to wait and luckily someone returned it.

After that, I just used my lanyard to carry my AP, since I know where it will be. It was a good thing that someone found my AP and returned it or it would cost me $20 and have to stay in line at the AP center.

Did you get your fee refunded? We're there quite a bit so hopefully if it turns up...I'm guessing the reason they charge is so people aren't quick to try to give their APs to lookalikes?

Yep, they charge. Don't know why (though it is extra materials...but WDW doesn't charge at all, and they don't even have a picture on it!).

We really should not have had our APs charged for, since it was the CMs who couldn't find it. DH went on Screamin' with his and DS's APs in the Disney-made lanyard and lanyard pouch, and the little metal bit broke while going upside down. Went to Guest Services immediately and they said they search the track with lights on every night. When they found it, the info would be put in our file, we would'nt have to pay (was our last night, with only half a day the next morning, left) the fee, etc.

But they never found it. So the next time we came, we had to get them replaced for 40 buckaroos.

Though since I had a feeling they wouldn't find it, I was busy keeping our change, and had that 40 just from the change we put away in the intervening months. (and that, combined with a total of around 80 we kept in change in about 6 other months, convinced me that we HAD TO start saving change b/c we "made" quite a bit of money that way! LOL.)

This is straight from the Disneyland website:

What do I do if my Annual Passport is lost or stolen?

Please report the situation immediately to a Main Entrance Ticket Booth at the Disneyland® Resort, or contact the Annual Passholder Hotline at 714-781-4546. If your Pass is in good standing and you forgot to bring it to the Resort on a visit, you will be provided one courtesy admission for the year. If your Passport is lost or stolen you will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of $20 for your Passport replacement (fee may be waived if a copy of a police report is shown).

I had my AP stolen out of my car 3 or 4 years ago and it was replaced for free with a police report.

Nope, no refund. When I went to the processing center and asked, I was told that I couldn't get my money back but that both APs were valid :scared1:. I assumed they'd cancel the first one but apparently they don't do that. The CM who told me they were both valid said it as if it were a bonus, but I can't think why it would be. It's not like you could take a similar looking friend or something :rotfl:

If you forget your pass, they will give you a courtesy ticket at the booths but typically only once, (if you are really nice and beg, they may do it again, but they keep notes on this stuff in the computer)

Otherwise, Yep its $20 to get a new pass. Get it at Ticket Booths or Guest Services.

Did you "try" both passes. They both should NOT be valid. Unless you tried it and found it to work (which would be an error) I kind of doubt it. They always shut one off before they hand out another, and its pretty hard to use someone pass anyway since your picture pops up on the turnstyle CM's monitor about 8 x 10 in color!

Yes we did, and both worked! Maybe it's because it was a 5-year-old's pass so they weren't too concerned about it?

I always wondered why they bothered taking pictures when they're pretty unrecognizable on the pass itself!

wow.. in WDW you just give them your name address and a copy of your id and they replace it for free. I wonder why the charge at DL?

I don't know. Especially since there's a picture connected with the DLR AP.

But the APs at DLR are on hard plastic, so I imagine there's a cost difference in the replacement process...and that's what I warn WDW people who yearn for hard plastic APs...there's a price to be paid!

ha ha so true! but ya'd think they cost pennies to reproduce even if they are hard plastic, they crank out new KTTW's like there's no tomorrow, are the pictures digital on the AP's?
