My wife and I have been doing the WDW and DL thing for 25+ years now and this is a first for us.

We had a 9:25 ADR for two at Crytal Palace last Friday AM. I underestimated the bus ride from POR to MK and we checked into Crystal Palce around 9:20. A CM with a portable keypad ckecked us in and confirmed our ADR with my first and last name. We were given a pager and took a seat on a bench on the front porch next to the check in line. 15 minutes later my wife is getting impatient and asks if we are still in line. She was give the standard stock answer it will only be a few more minutes. After 25-30 minutes we are observing parties of 2 and 4 being seated that checked in after us. I went to the bouncer at the front door and asked him to test my pager and he insisted all pagers are tested before being issued. "It will only be a few more minutes". After 40 minutes we hear the CM at the front door telling a walk-up they may be able to get them seated in about 30 minutes. I raise my voice from the crowd and say "I do not think that is possible since I have been wating 40 minutes with an ADR". Finnally another CM comes up to us and asks for our name and pager # and prints it on a piece of paper. She comes back with the news that "the system" had no idea we were there. We were quickly seated (45 minutes after checking in) and a "Get out of jail Free" card was issued for us to use on any one Fast Pass attraction.

Everything was fine after that and the Fast Pass voucher came in handy the following morning at KS.

I can imagine how frustrating that must have been for you and your DW. Ugh! Not the best way to start your day - that's for sure.

I am glad that you got a fastpass out of it at least. Hopefully nothing like that ever happens to you again.

We had a similar experience at Jiko on 10/26. We checked in about 20 - 25minutes early. The CM took my name and checked me off and gave me a pager. She said we should be seated a few minutes before our ADR time. DH, D Adult S and I went to the bar area and had a glass of wine.
After about 30 minutes waiting I decided to ask at the podium where we were in the waiting line. At first the CM could not find me at all, even though I had a pager. Then she got startled and said your table is ready right now. I motioned to DH and DS to join me. Another CM went to the 1st CM to seat us and she insisted on seating us herself.
On the way to the table she was all apologies, saying that they were having trouble with the printer that prints out a slip of paper when your table is ready. TThey give that slip of paper to the second CM who actually seats you. They had lost all knowledge of our being there and waiting.
I told her no problem, I had enjoyed a glass of wine, DH and DS company!!!
We had a great meal.

This past Sept. I was at the Rose and Crown, and they "lost" me in the computer. After waiting 45 mins for the pager to go off, and everyone around me being seated, and several that came after me; I went to the podium and asked how much longer. They said they were sorry but the computer lost what pager number I had. They knew I was there and waiting, what killed me I was only 10 feet from the podium the entire time. They could have called out my name at any time. They knew I had checked in, they knew the computer did not have my pager listed.

It was a great meal and I don't really have a point, other than it does happen. I learned to check in if I had a long wait. Oh and I never take the canned response about how long it will be. I always make them show me on the computer or the list.

This happened to me at O'hanas last year....I waited an hour for that stupid pager to go off. Finally my DBF went over and they actually argued with him , saying we weren't in the computer...I went over with my pager and was like " well, how do you think I got this?" After about another 20 minutes of arguing with them we we seated. Got a window seat just in time for Wishes. I guess it was worth it....kinda.

Thanks for all who supplied feedback. It seems this happens a bit at any of the restraurants. My wife and I only book a few breakfasts and dinners when we visit and we still seem to be eating too much. I do not think we would ever consider the DDP because of this.

This was the first time this has happened to us after about 20 trips over 25 years and based on the responses this is not all that rare of an occurance.

Dh and I had this happen to us at CG a while back. However, we were given no sort of compensation -- not even an "I'm sorry for your wait."
