Losing Weight During CP

Um, am I the only person who GAINED weight?:rotfl2:

I STARTED losing weight, but I didn't bring my scale so I have no idea how much....but then as my CP was coming to an end, I just got it in me that I wanted to experience as many Disney restaurants as I could..:rotfl:

When I got home I was 10 pounds up...still have yet to lose it lol.:rolleyes1

Haha. You're not alone! I thought the same thing reading all the responses. Working at DTD and having McDonalds as a breakroom was just dangerous, but at least I'm totally sick of it now. And I guess all those nights out at B Dubs and House of Blues didn't help too much, either. I don't really understand how people literally couldn't afford food, though. I payed for gas, my car insurance, some other bills, lived in Patterson (most expensive rent,) ate out all the time, took waaaay too many trips to Property Control, went on trips with my roomies and seriously went to either the Florida Mall or the outlets once a week, and I came out with about as much money as I came down with. Don't be scared away, future cps. You won't be THAT broke that you literally can't afford a 15 cent pack of ramen. You just need some basic budgeting skills, and you will have the time of your life!

I too gained weight, about 15 pounds.

Before heading down I was in the best shape of my life, worked out 5 times a week. Then I started at Disney, which required walking, but not actual exercise. I was so exhausted when I got home I ate and crashed (and that started to add up).

I was a character performer, so it's not like I wasn't sweating every day!

My roommates and I decided that if you are coming from a life of little activity you'll lose weight, but if you're coming from a life of high activity you'll likely gain it (because there is no time to work out).

I found that many character performers that are dancers, stopped attending class and gained weight too, so I know I wasn't the only one.

I totally agree. I always wanted to make it to the gym, especially since my building was right next to it, but I was always so exhausted form work that I would just crash, and I would be so, so busy on my days off that it unfortunately wouldn't cross my mind. If I get accepted this time, though, I definitely know a little better.

I lost about 20 lbs on my college program from the amount of walking and not eating I did.
Most days I don't eat until around 4 or 5 and that's the only meal I eat for the day...I just couldn't afford it. I also had a string of incredibly bad luck that I'm still trying to dig myself out of.

During my program, I know I ate some of the most unhealthy food I ever have, and I ate all the time. I STILL lost 10-15 pounds on the program. I believe it was the combination of walking all day long (I worked at Everest) and always being out with friends on my downtime. I worked out 5 days a week before Disney, and I kept up the workout routine while there. So all the walking at work was just added activity.

I lost 30 pounds when I came down here for the cp. I was Fall advantage so I arrived just in time for summer. I think the new environment, running around the parking lot catching doubles, walking my trams, the extreme heat, and working lots of hours contributed. It wasn't before I was too poor to eat lol.

I lost about 20ish lbs while on the CP, and I never even went to the gym, haha. and I also ate many unheathly foods (ie, frozen dinner and lotsssss of pasta, plus the occasional mickey bar or popcorn!), but I still lost a bunch!

A lot of it was that you dont want to eat much in the heat of the summer, and you are constantly on your feet at work. Plus, on your days off, you generally tend to play in the parks, so thats walking and such.

I lost about 20 lbs during each of my programs. I gained most of it back after my first program, but so far I've only gained back a few pounds since finishing my second program. I was mainly a combination of walking all the time & limiting how much I spent on food every week so I could do other things. I didn't really realize it until my work pants that were tight when I started were huge on me. I ended up going down either 3 or 4 pants sizes in Disney sizes both times, but only 1 size in normal clothes.

yeah I lost about 40 pounds too... it was AWESOME! I was often a resort runner which involved taking deliveries to guest rooms... lifting sometimes... LOTS of walking and in the summer it all ads up. Add the fact that Old Key West has NO elevators so I climed 3 flights of stairs many times almost every day... lol BEST WORK OUT EVER!

This is awesome to hear!! I was hoping to continue a gym routine when I'm down there in the Fall...however it sounds like no one has time for that which is totalllly fine with me if there's really as much walking and standing as everyone's saying in most roles!!

Losing some weight without trying would be amazing, but I'm just hoping I can still manage to kinda eat healthily when I'm there?! Is that at all possible haha?!

My roommates and I all ate whatever we wanted we just ate smaller portions to make the food last longer. Also going to the parks a lot REALLY adds up. You walk A LOT!!! But you're having fun so you don't even really notice. I can see other roles losing weigh more than others but I know I sure didn't expect to lose a lot working the front desk lol. I didn't know I'd be trained as a runner as well lol. It's great going to costuming asking for a smaller size :-)

yeah, you def. lose weight. I made healthier choices while I was down there..like most of what I drank was water. I tried to go with whole wheat and such but from always being active, working so much, I ate less-ish (I worked a lot of 2-12 shifts so my "lunch" was usually something out of the vending machine..which isn't that healthy and then would eat dinner when I got home at 12..which isn't supposed to be great for you either..) You're also buying your own food there...and between paychecks sometimes your food supply gets SUPER low..so I ended up living off of soup a lot. ha. But, I ended up losing 50 pounds during my 8 months down there. So, without trying, you def. will drop some pounds. The thing that really did it for me, I think was the amount of water I drank, no sugar and being SO active. I came from a small town where there's not much to do to either be working/at the beach/boardwalk/clubs/out shopping.

So far i've been here for a month and i can tell i've been losing weight. Gotta love that im not trying, lets see what happens at the end

During my CP in fall 08 I lost about 40 pounds! As a custodian I walked around my area for my shifts. I believe that is was the combination of walking and heat/sweat for me; not the food. I didn't realize I was actually losing weight until my pants of my costume was falling down and switched sizes :rotfl2: Since I got accepted as a custodian again for this fall semester cp I am looking forward to shed a few pounds!

Yay! Custodian is my first choice and I'd love to get in shape while I'm down there. I kind of figured I would anyway though, since I know that custodians walk A LOT :goodvibes

i have the same problem , i want to lose weightfor a long time, Finally failed, I don't know to do!!!
:snooty::rolleyes::worship:

Oh boy, I did loose weight, seven lbs. It wasn't because I was on a tight budget, actually far from it, that's a different story entirely. I just went to the parks constantly, at least 3 days a week I would go. It's a wonderful exercise!

Is it possible to not eat a lot of fast food???
It sounds like everyone is eating fast food.

Then again, I feel like a lot of people seem to thing college students eat a lot of fast food and I do not so maybe I'll be okay.

Currently I eat pretty healthy. A lot of organic pasta, very little sugar, whole wheat tortillas, etc.

Just wondering how easy it is to cook your own food, or find healthier alternatives to fast food.

Thanks!

Hmm...Now I'm wondering, since a lot of you have said your food stock runs low between paychecks...if I had a car or a friend with a car, could I find the equivalent of a BJ's or Costco anywhere? Like a buy-in-bulk store? I know that there are some foods that you can save on if you buy them at that kind of a store and they definetly last longer. :confused3

It's absolutely possible. The CP apartments are closely located to a lot of fast food places so for many people it's equal parts convenience and budget (if you consider fast food budget-friendly, which I don't.). And lots of CPs end up going for fast food in groups after work or just on days off. But if you want to cook in your apartment, you have almost everything you need. One of my roommates cooked at home all the time (she didn't clean though, which was a big problem in our apt) and I think I only saw her bring home fast food once or twice. And one of my friends from work (also a CP) was always bringing homemade meals to eat on her breaks because she also ate mostly organic food.

Just stock your CP kitchen with the stuff you normally like to eat/cook and you'll be fine.

It is possible to eat other things besides fast food. There is a grocery store near Chatham Square and they even offer buses to Walmart. Many times I would eat when I got home. I guess I was one of the lucky ones with a "normal" schedule and get home around 4:30 PM so it was possible to have a normal dinner and cook. Even then, many of my roommates would cook themselves their dinner.
