Yeah, I think this is a very appropriate title for my upcoming trip:
Losing Pounds or Losing My Mind for Disney 05/2016 PTR

This will be a combination of my upcoming plans for our Disney trip as well as my journey to lose some weight prior to the trip. I would love for you all to join me in this journey and I feel this PTR will keep me accountable for my actions up until our dates.

Me and my hubby Peter

First, let's start with a little background on me. I'm Ann, a 48 year old mom of one soon to be 18 year old girl. I have been married to a wonderful man for over 5 years now and fortunately he indulges my Disney habit. We honeymooned in Disney (yes, with the child) and have been every year since. We even bought into the Disney Vacation Club in 2014, so he's stuck with Disney for the forseeable future. My health is not that great and thus I need to lose weight. I'm 5'2" and per my home scale this morning I weight 223.8lbs. Ugh....I just said that out loud...ok, so I just wrote it for all the world to see. I am an insulin dependant diabetic, so strike one there. I am also a thyroid cancer survivor and as we all know, the thyroid controls your metabolism, so let's just say I don't have a metabolism now, so strike two. Hopefully I won't obtain a strike three! :rolleyes1

My plan is to follow Weight Watchers. I have been on and off so many times I've lost count, but when I am faithful, I do lose weight. I have all my materials so I won't be attending meetings unless I feel the need to. I think I can do it myself with support from friends, family, and all of you! I also am a YMCA member and my daughter plans on going with me to at least walk the inside track when neither of us are working evenings. I do work full time for State Government during the day and occasional evenings at Party City!! :yay: I love that job!!! Anyways, my first goal will be to get under 200 lbs for our May trip. I think it's doable and we shall see.

My Victoria

Our Disney plans includes a week-long stay at Disney's Old Key West in a deluxe studio from May 13 through May 21. We are hoping to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge and have been put on the waitlist, but will be perfectly happy with OKW. We have annual passes and this will be the second time using them. We bought them in September when we took my mother down for her 75th birthday and stayed at her dream resort --- Grand Floridian. Yeah, it was ok, but it was definitely not for me!! I am not a fancy person whatsoever!

So, there is my introduction. I hope you will all enjoy as you follow along with me.

First! Thanks for letting me know you're writing this! I haven't been on the boards in FOR-EV-ER! That was a great intro! I can't wait to read more, Ann!

Long time no see-remember me?

Hi Sarah!!!! thanks for joining in. Oh it looks like we'll be missing each other by a week. Thank you for your encouragement. I really need friends to help me out!

OOOOOOOOHHHHHH!!! I have a WW buddy!!!! Good luck! We are in this together!!! Ok, so I know your name can't be your screen name. Would you like to share it??? I'd like to address you by your name!! :hyper2:

So, Day 1 done and done well. I stayed within my points range, my blood sugars were all below 200 (a very big deal for me!!) and Victoria and I did 25 minutes on the indoor track at the Y last night. I did get on the scale at the Y and found out my home scale is about 5 pounds lighter than the actual ones with those moveable weights. Eh, that's ok. I'm still going by my home scale. This morning I did pick up a sandwich at Dunkin Donuts as I was pretty light-headed. I sometimes get that way after taking my morning meds. Yeah, that sandwich is costing me about 15 points for the day, but it will be ok. My planned lunch is about 6 points and then I'll have a quick snack between my State job and Party City as there's only about 1/2 hour in between the 2 jobs. I won't be exercising tonight, but I'll be on my feet for 4 hours tonight at work, so I consider that movement! I got on the scale this morning and was the same! Ugh! I can't believe I haven't lost 5 lbs yet!! :rotfl::rotfl2::jumping1:

I know, I know......totally unrealistic!! I can't wait to see what Monday's weigh-in will bring!!

Hi Ann, great job staying on track!! It's great that your daughter walked the track with you - it's so much easier when you have company. ::yes:: And way go with you glucose numbers! That's terrific! :thumbsup2

Just a thought about the sandwich - maybe you could pack some portable snacks like granola bars in your purse or car to have with you in those situations. I have a stash of PB crackers in my center console for the boys want a snack when we're out and about. ;)

Don't let that scale get you down. By Monday I'm sure you will see progress. Keep it up!

I am looking forward to reading along! I am trying to lose weight before my trip as well. I started a bit late so it won't be much, but something is so much better than nothing! :D

Are you weighing each day or just on Monday's? I have found that I have to get on the scale everyday to see my numbers (even if they vary.. the number itself is what keeps me going).

I think I might join you on this weight loss journey. We bought a treadmill about 4 or 5 months ago just to get into shape and I have only been on it once :rolleyes1! It's funny bc I am just reading this now and I too stopped at dunkin donuts this morning!!! I got a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and a small iced caramel latte- which are terrible for me! I am definitely going to get on board!

I'm weak for Dunkin Donuts breakfast sandwiches! Certain brands carry lighter versions of breakfast sandwiches, like Jimmy Dean's 250 calorie ones. I'm also pretty sure weight watchers has some which I'm sure you know about :) Goodluck!!! Fingers crossed for Mondays weigh in!

::yes:: Yep, it's my lack of planning that I don't have snacks with me. I actually do have about 4 hard-boiled eggs in the fridge here at work, but I just couldn't stomach eggs this morning. It's fine, though, I have my day's food planned out, so it's all good!

Hi Amy and Welcome!!! :welcome: Yay we can lose weight together!!! And you are right --- any amount is great!!! I'm so obsessed that I will be weighing everyday even though my "official" weigh-in day will be Mondays. I may have to stop weighing daily if it becomes too depressing, after all, the numbers can fluctuate with water, etc. Anyways, happy you are here!!!

OOOOhhhh, yes, please join me on the journey!!! It will be FUN!!! (ok, I couldn't even say that with a straight face!!) but at least we will be supporting each other. We also have a treadmill at home but I find it soooooo boring. At least at the Y we can google over the cute men/boys working out! :sail:Yeah, I really don't think the Dunkin Donuts will continue to be a habit. Ugh.....all those points just gone POOF!!!

Hi Sarah!!! I have seen other brands in the freezer section at Wal-Mart and honestly they just don't taste as good.

I'm anxious to go see my Doctor at the Diabetes Center on January 15th. Hopefully by then my blood sugars will be doing great and I will be down at least 5 or 7 lbs. One thing that's bugging me, but in a good way......the last time I was at the Diabetes Center was in September and at that time on their scale I weighed 234lbs. Now I don't understand how I could have possibly lost weight since then as I've eaten like an absolute piggy!! Then there was Halloween and Christmas and all that food! Granted it's only about 6 pounds if I'm going by their scale but that just doesn't seem right. Oh, I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but it's just weird. Maybe the medicine Saxenda is actually helping me. I'm taking that injectable now instead of Victoza and it's supposed to help a person lose weight, so maybe......

We got a bunch of giftcards for Xmas, so we've been eating out pretty much every night. I actually laid out ground beef this morning, so we are either having tacos or hamburgers for dinner- havent decided yet! Not the healthiest of choices, but at least it will be home cooked and not fast food lol.

Hello my buddies, my friends, my pals!! :wave:So, yesterday was a little interesting as far as food goes. Of course you all know I started out my morning with that huge, gigantic point DD sandwich that pretty much took most of my points for the day. Ugh! I did snack on 15 (yes, I counted) pretzel sticks twice. Lunch was reasonable with left over beef, carrots and a potato. Then we ran into the dilema.....I wasn't planning on having any supper, but my lovely, good-intentioned child stated that I must eat or else I will get sick. She's seen me have a low blood sugar episode and it scares her. I ended up buying a pizza at the convenience store and bringing it into work. I did have one slice --- cheese pizza --- no meat and shared the rest. My job at Party City last night was to clean up the store and vaccum!! OMG I vaccumed the ENTIRE STORE!!! :yay:No one can say I didn't get my exercise last night!!! Victoria was also scheduled to close last night (yes, we work in the same store!) so it was fun!! We got home around 9pm and I knew I had to take my insulin, so I checked my blood sugar ---- 160. I was going to have a low blood sugar episode if I took my 40 units of insulin and my Metformin with a blood sugar of 160!! I knew I had to eat something to balance it out, so I felt guilty, but I did end up having an ice cream cup. You know those cups that come in a pack of 10 or so? It was vanilla and very yummy. Results---- no low blood sugar!

Blood sugar this morning was 116, so I'm happy. :) Also, although it's not my official weigh in day, I did get on the scale and I am down 2lbs!!! Hey, I know it could be water weight or something, but I don't care. I'll take it!!! Yeah! Today I had 2 slices of wheat bread with 2 tbs of pb so 8 points used this morning instead of gazillion like yesterday! It's 10:21am and I haven't felt like snacking yet, so that's good. I get to go home for lunches as I live not even a mile away from my office, so I'm thinking today will be a lean pocket. Tonight after the gym I'm planning on cooking chicken. Yummers!!!popcorn::

I'm making chicken tonight too!!! Lol!! I will probably make lemon chicken (chicken drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with lemon pepper) with steamed broccoli or something.

So far today so good. I had two of those Cuties oranges for breakfast- I am starving though lol. Maybe if I pair it with a hard boiled egg or something in the future it will hold me over till lunch.

Hi! My name is Kelly. You're doing great so far. I stayed within my points yesterday also. I would love to stay at WW until I hit my goal this time. I always quit, thinking I can do this by myself and save money... We all know how that goes. Keep up the good work!!

Hi Kelly!!!! I'm very proud of you for staying within your points. So far so good for today, but I want to eat. I can see it's out of boredom or habit because I'm not hungry. It's frustrating to have to fight with myself over eating...ugh! So according to our tickers we should be at Disney at the same time!!! Maybe we can say hi to each other!!!! I'd love to hear about your plans if you'd like to share.
