losing FP if canceling a day?

hello all!
We have a trip planned 2/17-23. We live in NY and will be actually flying out of DC. I’m nervous about the weather and my husband suggested we book two extra nights, the 16 and 24 just in case a big snow storm hits the northeast and keeps us from getting home or encourages us to leave early for vacation to avoid a storm ruining our trip. If I book another night (arriving a day early) I would be making my fast passes a day early. What happens if the weather is fine and I cancel the first night a week in advance? Would the fast passes for my whole trip be gone? (I promise, this is not me booking a throw away room!)

No, you wouldn’t lose all of them, just the ones for the day you cancel (assuming it’s a package). However, you may not be able to easily drop a day from your reservation. Disney’s system can be weird about that.

Thanks! I’m thinking I should make a separate reservation for the “extra” night rather than adding it on to my existing room only booking. Hopefully that will make it easier to cancel if we need to. Hopefully Mother Nature plays nice!

Yes, that’s what you should do. You’ll need tickets to cover that day too, if you want to make FPs.
