Last year I bought a gold AP with the extra month that was being promoted. I am going to activate it in October of this year, but will need it for the same week the next year, which is why I got the 13 month pass.

If I upgrade my pass when I activate it with the current promotion, will I lose the 13th month?

Thanks!

You should get to keep your 13 month pass. I had a 13 month gold pass. When I upgraded to the platinum pass this past trip the 13th month still applied. HOWEVER, the pass did automatically go back to 12 months, and I had to specifically have the cast member change it back to the 13th month expiration date before I walked away from guest services. So be sure to check the expiration date after the upgrade process.

My son upgraded his 13 month gold pass to the dvc special pass last month. He was at Disney with pwc elevate, so I was not there. I noticed when he got home that the expiration date had changed, and it had reverted back to a 12 month annual pass.

I had to call Disney ticketing and explain what happened. They were able to look at the history of the ticket and see what had happened. They fixed it for him back to 13 months. Just make sure the expiration date stays the same when you upgrade your pass.

I just did this in on August 16th.
I had purchased the Gold 13 month plan for the family when it was offered months ago. I went over to the Magic Kingdom Ticket window to activate/upgrade and specifically asked if I would get the 13 months as part of the upgrade to platinum. I was going to keep the gold if they said no. They said yes so I now have the Platinum for 13 months.

We're planning on renewing our 13 month gold in 3 weeks to the Platinum Plus with the 13th month. Glad it works as we expected.

(PS) our DS goes to RIT.....

I don't think you'll be able to renew a 13-month to a 13-month. The dates were set up so you get the special extra month once. Renewals past 10/1 should only be for 12 months.

We were told that we can get the 13 month renewal on a 13 month pass. You can renew up to 60 days prior to expiration. Verified this on the website.

Of course, it's all in the timing of your renewal.

Renew Your Pass – and Enjoy an Extra Month
When you renew your annual pass by October 1, 2017 (and before it expires), you'll get a 13-month pass! That gives you an extra month to experience the magic of Walt Disney World Resort.

Remember, you can renew up to 60 days in advance of the expiration date on your pass. Here's how you can renew:

  • By Phone: Call Member Services at (800) 800-9800† or (407) 566-3800
  • In Person: Visit a Guest Relations location at any Walt Disney World Theme Park or at Disney Springs to renew your annual pass.

Not valid on water park passes. Valid only on pass renewals made now through October 1, 2017. Passes are 13 consecutive months, non-transferable and non-refundable. Block-out dates apply on certain pass types. Certain events / activities are separately priced.

Thanks for that. I didn't think I remembered reading any exceptions. We expire 10/17 and I was planning to upgrade on 9/27 or 9/28.
