this is our first trip to disney and we are making dinner reservations for epcot. has anyone tried this italian restaurant? what did you think?
also how much time should we allow ourselves to find a good spot to watch the fireworks at epcot? they start at 930 so what time is a good time to go find a spot? oh we will be there in the beginning of dec.

You will get a lot of mixed reviews on this restaurant, but for us it is a must every trip. Other things tempt me, but I always go with the Alfredo because it is just wonderful. We always eat there at lunch, though, so I can't answer you question about timing to get to see Illuminations.

I've been to alfredo's twice and both times the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I have to say that dining is very subjective, so people may love it or hate it, but what matters is whether you enjoyed it. I say go for it, that's the only way you will know. We're going in December too, the 10th - 15th.

I'll throw in a negative review. We had dinner there last Sunday. 6:45 seating. Food was just okay. Service was to be desired. It was my first time there. Glad I tried it. Won't be going back anytime soon.

But, as everyone else says, each has their own opinion. I have found that you must try the restaurants for yourself to decide. Good luck.

NOT TERRIBLY IMPRESSES! the first time we ate there we thought it was o.k but the second time was TERRIBLE! the pasta tasted like it came right out of a can and the service was really bad. Now, having said all that...I always feel like you should try things for yourself and NOT listen to other people's opinions! HECK, they may have been having a bad day! so, give it a shot...you won't know 'till you try right? HAVE FUN!

I've been curious about this restaurant.. DH and I love alfredo!

I have an ADR for our trip in 11 days. I know there are lots of negative, but hey, I happen to LIKE the Olive Garden so my chances are good at liking Alfredo's, too, right? I said to DH who was iffy about it, "You never know until you try." So try we will. And I'll be reporting back with pictures and all!

It's not bad, must mediocre. I'm not sure how they can legally say it is the same as the one in Rome, which is magnifico! They are the inventors of Alfredo sauce! If you are a foodie, you probably won't like it, but if you like chain italian dining, it will probably be fine.

I grew up in an Italian household. My grandmother was from Italy. The Fettuccini Alfredo was just like hers but I didn't like hers growing up either. Olive garden is awsome compared to this in my opinion. Here is what I figured my problem with it is. The alfredo sauce is made of butter with cheese in Epcot instead of cream with cheese as most restaurants I have eaten in serve it. I much prefer a creamier sauce using a cream base. My husband had their trio which had lasagna too and he said it was just ok. As others have said I have heard a lot of great reviews of this restaurant so you may love it.

Alfredo's is ok, but not great. It's not one of my favorites and one that I won't plan on going back to, but would if nothing else is available. Better choices would be Chefs de France or Marakesh or Rose and Crown or Le Cellier, if you can get in there. For Italian food I go to Palio's at the Swan (a 15 minute walk away).
For Illuminations, I would first check the times for December, 9:30 seems late. Most of the Illuminations shows seem to be at 9:00 in the winter. You can see Illuminations best at the Rose and Crown. A 7:30 ADR will work out perfectly for you. I would give myself 1.5 hours for dinner to end and get out to see the show. You will be able to see Illuminations from anywhere on the World Showcase Lagoon. The best view is from the bridge between France and England. The view from near Alfredo's is good as is the view from Chef's. If your there 10 minutes before the show you should find a good place to view it from (of course I'm over 6' tall so most people are smaller than me). If you have little kids or short adults then try to find a spot right at the rail.

We stick with a salad, the Fettuccini Alfredo, and a desert; we really enjoy the Fettuccini. The restaurant seemed noisy, and the tables were close together, but the decor was nice and watching the staff participate in the musical entertainment was fun. We will not hesitate to return when we are in the mood for Fettuccini.
