Kelsea is going crazy about them winning so many awards.

I'm excited, too. I though they would do well, but I never imagined that the film would win this many awards.

My sister was hating the fact LOTR was winning everything but I'm happy ROTK won!

ELEVEN FOR ELEVEN!!!!!

Ties the Oscar all-time high count with Titanic and Ben-Hur!!

I thought it was great, and the only one of the 11 I disagreed with was the Best Song. (song, not score)

Good to see them finally get their due. :)

I agree Tammi. I really liked both of the Cold Mountain songs but particularly the second one with Elvis Costello. But all of the other awards were very deserved IMO.

Isn't it wonderful when a movie like LOTR-ROTK wins? I mean...the movie really stuck close to the original book. Yes, there were some differences but nothing huge. And after reading the series in the '60's, I went back last year and reread them! And it was a true group effort. Yes, everyone was good, but no single great person, all were great. Yes, it is a fantasy. So what. I get tired of these 'so called' important movies winning. I love Bill Murray, but I had to force myself to finish watching Lost in Translation. Love it when a great movie is so entertaining!! Congratulations to the entire group. Now, to await the boxed set on dvd!!!

I didn't make it for the whole awards ceremony, but I was thrilled to hear this morning that they did sweep all 11 for 11!!! I will disagree wtih the majority here on the song though. As much as Annie Lennox's voice doesn't do anything for me in the song (and I normally don't feel that way about her) I didn't get moved by any of the Cold Mountain songs. They were cute, but I guess I didn't find them to be extrodinary or anything.

I am thrilled that a fantasy picture was finally recognized. Having read the books, I think Jackson did a wonderful job of portraying a very complex story.

I agree. Everyone I know that has actually read the books thought that the movies were great and totally deserved this recognition. I guess the movies were a little too deep for those who didn't read the books to be able to understand the levels of genius it took to produce the masterpiece. There were so many intertwined plots and subplots, so many different species, regions, battles, creatures and languages that it really is amazing that Peter Jackson was able to pull it all together in such a flawless manner.

Just wonderful!!!

I think they are finally giving this Triolgy its due. These are awards for the whole thing, I think! I bet they were just waiting for this year to do it.

I'm so pleased!

I have to disagree with you here. I have never read any of the LOTR books and had no trouble following the story or understanding what it took to make them. I think it is easy to see the production values on this project and to realize that it was a total comittment for all involved. Besides, with the number of tickets sold to these films I'm guessing that those who haven't read the books far outnumber those who have.

There was just so much more involved in the books that the movies were able to portray. I know that people could follow the story or else the movie would never have been as successful as it was. The fact that Jackson was able to take such a complicated story and make it enjoyable for those who didn't read the books is what is really incredible.

:D :D LOTR rocked! So great for Peter Jackson to be honored for the amount of work put into this trilogy. It was brilliant and received the proper credit!:D :D

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE LOTR fan and have read the whole series several times, but IMHO, the 1st movie of the trilogy LOTR - Fellowship of the Ring was far better than ROTK - Return of The King and to me should have been the one to sweep the awards back in 2000. I guess the academy was trying to make up for stiffing Jackson 2 years in a row. :(

I personally saw these awards as being given to the entire Trilogy and treating it as one single movie rather than really just the 3rd one.

I also think that they gave LOTR Best Picture because of the incredible job Peter Jackson did with all 3 films.

I am a huge LOTR fan, but I liked the 1st movie better than the other 2.

Look how long each extended verision DVD is. They had to cut some from each film in order to get a good run time for theatres. I believe I counted 12 straight hours of film if you watched the 1st, 2nd extended versions and 3rd movie end to end. That is incredible.

The characters never age as they do in most sequels because Mr. Jackson filmed all 3 movies at the same time.

This is coming from a person who used to watch Classic Disney films. I never thought I'd like a movie as much as LOTR.

When we went to see ROTK we were told that the film lasted 3 hours and 17 minutes. It was so packed in the theatre yet you could hear a pin drop from the silent audience. The time just flew past.

I really think the Oscar was for all 3 films... and it was deserved.

I saw Joel Siegal? (is that his name?) on Good Morning America this morning. He said that since none of the actors had been nominated for an award, there should be an Ensemble award. That if there had of been one that Lord of the Rings would have won that one too. All the characters complemented each other so well. I agree with him. To me, while not one single actor stood out, they all so firmly meshed with each other. I do think that if I were to pick an actor that stood out, I would pick the one who played Sam as a Best Supporting Actor.

I was thrilled to see LOTR win so many awards. I also see it as Hollywood's way of honoring the entire trilogy.

As a HUGE fan of the books for over 20 years, I was upset when I first heard it was going to be made into a movie(s). I just thought it was a completely impossible task and I would hate the Director's vision of my beloved Middle Earth. Instead, Peter Jackson's vision displayed my vision, and then some! He really deserved the Oscar with the heart, dedication and unrelentless hard work he put into this trilogy to bring it life for all of us to enjoy.
