We have a permium site reserved for next week. our kids are 8mo, 3 and 5. Just looking for some feedback from the more experienced FW campers. This will be our first time camping at FW and arte very excited. Im thinking closer to the campfire area might be the best but please advise. I was hoping to find a loop that would provide good location as to avoid getting a golf cart.

Speaking of golf cart.....should i just plan on getting one. the kids love riding the bikes but im not sure they will be up for the amount of riding that will be required.

Suggestions.
Thanks!

Since you said your reservation is for a premium site, I will confine my answers to suggestions about the current premium loops.

The 1400 loop would be the closest to the campfire area and the pool. Many sites on this loop are crowded, though.

The new part of the 600 loop would be close, too, but there are much less trees (and shade) on this new part of the loop.

The 1300 loop is also close to the pool, and has a really nice playground at its entrance.

The 500 loop is also across from a nice playground area, but a bit further from the campfire and pool area.

I would suggest one of these for you family. With young kids, 1300 might be best for you.

If you want to be near the pool and the campfire program, 1400 or the new part of 600 are probably best. When my kids were younger we almost always requested 1400. Now we prefer to be closer to the settlement (especially on our last trip when the pool was closed!). Another good thing about being closer to the pool is that you won't have as much "Settlement noise" when the kids are trying to sleep. You'll probably still hear the Electrical Parade in the 1400 loop, but it won't be nearly as loud as it is in the 100 loop. We've never rented a golf cart - we use the buses and our bikes within the campground and drive to the parks. I always hated dragging a stroller onto the Disney buses, so we started taking our own car when the kids were young and now we're used to that and prefer it.

I would suggest either 1400 or 500. 1400 is much closer to the movie & pool, but 500 is smack dab between settlement & meadow. Just be aware that since 1400 has been reno'ed, quite a few of the sites are what I would consider to be unsafe for small children. They back right up to the canal & have parking bumpers so people won't back their RV's into the canal. It's a pretty sharp drop-off.

Deb- You are right about that! Some of the sites along the canal would be very unsafe for a family with small children! I didn't think about that, and the OP does have some very young ones in his family. Here are a couple of photos of those types of sites. Just beyond the concrete is a steep drop off into a canal (the green slime you see down there is the "water") :

So, I still say 1300 is a good loop for this family, and I would leave 1400 off of the wish list altogether.

Yep! 1300 is a good choice, too. The only site on 1400 I would ever want would be 1432. Just a stone's throw from the movies & S'mores!! (popcorn, too) :thumbsup2

We are back. We were on site 1334 next to the playground. great spot for us. the grandparents were at the lodge and could take the bus right to the stop and walk a short distance to the site.

thanks for the input. we had a GREAT time. will soon be planning the next trip.

Thanks for reporting back! Sometimes we dole out our sage wisdom and we never know how things worked out for the person asking. I'm glad that you liked the 1300 loop, and that you had a great trip!

Just to help us keep track of things, how did you request the 1300 loop? Did you send a fax? Make a phone call? Ask at check-in? I would like to know, so we all can stay current on what works.

I tried the online check-in and it did not work so i called directly. They made the 1300 loop notes on my reservation. When we arrived i went to the online check-in line and they had us all set to go on 1301. After seeing the young kids they CM suggested moving us to 1334 since it was next to the play structure. It worked out well.

:thumbsup2 I love it when things work out that way.
