My family is starting to plan for our first trip to the Fort in June 2010. :yay: We own a pop-up, so we don't need full hook-up. Are the 1500 and 2000 loops the only partial hook-ups loops, or are there more? Thanks in advance!

We stayed in the 1500 loop in September. It has fewer sites than the 2000 loop and is closer to the main pool, campfire, movies, Meadows Trading Post. We liked it. What I didn't know then is that you can park your camper on the sand pad because it really isn't sand. It will give you a lot more room in the drive way for your car. Remember to give your group plenty of time to enjoy the campground. I wish I had had at least a full day and several 1/2 days to spend there. Driving two days each way took away from the time we could spend there.

We stayed in loop 1500 last November and loved the location - very convenient access to the Meadows area!

I go in June too :cool1: We actually reserved the full hook up sites-mainly because I wanted more pavement than the sand/coquina and I liked the location :goodvibes

Maybe we will see you there

Classof 83,

As other said, those are the two loops for Partial hookups. Nice thing about having a popup (I have a Jayco) is that you can always move up into a full hook-up loop or get in with a partial site.

One piece of advice that I learned the hard way (since you're going in June). I went in late May one trip over Memorial Day weekend and left my awning set up with a slight slant. One of those afternoon thunderbusters came through while we were at DTD and I came back to find my awning had pooled up with water and torn/split under the weight and collapsed. So I literally "paid" for my mistake.

Don't let this happen to you. Put a good steep slant on that awning in the summer time.!

Good luck.

I'm casting a vote for the 2000 loop. The 1500 loop is definitely the best for location to the Meadows Recreation Area and fishing is just a few steps away. The sites though are smaller and closer than many of the sites over in the 2000 loop.
I hadn't been able to get in the 1500 loop the past few trips, but was assigned a site in Sept. Joy! Got to do lots of fishing but the neighbors were literally 10 feet from our popup and starting partying at 10am and went thru til about 11pm. It may sound like fun to some, but after very little sleep in 3 days, it's no so funny. Was back to loop 2000 this week and although it was packed, it was quiet and relaxed.
So your choice will be, IMHO, 1500 loop, location, location, location with smaller, closer sites or 2000 loop which is further out with larger sites, quieter and more serenity. Of course a golf cart can solve much of the distance thing.:thumbsup2
Have a great time.
