So, since we're coming to FW with a pup next month, I requested loop 1500 at online check in. For those of you who have stayed there, I see it is smaller than the other partial hook up loop. Is it small enough that I don't necessarily need to request a site near the comfort station, for nighttime bathroom breaks? And on the map, the Meadows trading post and pool look close enough to walk to-yes? Do you have any specific favorite sites? How about shady sites-I'm hearing how hot it is there now, and we're coming from Wisconsin. Hoping to do anything to survive the heat!

Most of 1500 has good shade, so I don't see that being an issue. You can request proximity to a CD though, from what I've seen, it isn't drastically far but it never hurts to ask to be closer.

Meadows and pool are an easy walk from 1500.

I would say most sites in 1500 have pretty good shade at some point in the day. I've camped in 1500 several times and would not prefer a site close to the road due to vehicle noise (1501, 1503, 1520, 1521) although if it was all they had left I would take it. Looks like sites on the inside of the circle have the heavier tree cover and are more private - I've only been given sites on the outside of the ring.

Personally my favorites are on the outside in the back of the loop (which isn't very big). 1510, 1511, 1513, 1514. 1510 is better suited to small rigs or tents since it has 2 trees to navigate around inside the timbers of the sand pad. 1511 is my favorite - big, lots of room between you and your neighbors. 1513 is okay - spent a Thanksgiving there once (cooked a 22# turkey in my popup in a tabletop roaster and served about 16 family members). 1514 is in the back corner and has probably the least shade of the 4. These 4 back up against the large canal.

All that being said, I would take any site in 1500 so don't get too hung up on one particular site or another.

Little bit of advice, arrive early, especially if you are coming in on a Friday. Just because someone requested a loop during online check in, it is not guaranteed. They maybe full of people not leaving until after you arrive. We have learned to check in in the middle of the week and early in the morning.

Very good advice there. We do it for all our visits.

I personally prefer arrive so early iIfind the CMs still waking up. I feel like my Mountain Dew rush gives me an extra step in using my Jedi powers to direct them on finding me a good site. :darth:
