Hey all,

We'll be camping on for Mother's Day (May 8 to May 12). My DH is now wanting to go into Loop 1500 b/c it's so close to the Meadows activity stuff. I keep telling him that 2000 is getting better reviews on here. This past w/e we went down (only about 30-45 min away) & walked both loops. It's b/c of this that he wants to go into 1500. I've been able to send him comments on loop 2000 from here, but he's want comments on 1500 as well. He said that it was up to me to request the loop & he wasn't going to be blamed if I didn't like it, but he's really pushing for 1500. I think mainly b/c of the boys 4.5 & 22 months.:rolleyes1

Also, his parents will be in for that time period too, but are staying in AKL (were going to stay in WL, but something about not liking the prices they were getting for there:confused3 ). So, I'm not sure how much time we'll be at the site b/c of them..:sad2: :headache: (If I have my way, then it will be quite a bit.)

Anyway, any comments that you can give will be great so that I can forward them to him.

Equipment: 15 X 10 Jeep 10-person tent, & screen house (getting a new one next month, but not sure how big yet--looking at the octagon shaped ones). Possibly having another fam w/ us, but then have a smaller 4-person tent.

Thanks for all the help!!

The 1500 Loop is a great location and all sites are close to the comfort station. I LOVE the loop and location, but since I had/have a need to spread out, I have just stayed safe with 2000. With the tent equipment you have, the sand area may be too small. Perhaps request 1500 and if they assign you a site that doesn't work, drive over to 2000 to see if there are any available over there that will. Since you are arriving on a Thursday, then you have a good chance of having plenty of empty sites, so finding one that will fit will be fairly easy.

Thanks Carol,

When we walked it, we saw that about 3 sites in 1500 would be large enough for us, even if we had to put the screen house on the concrete pad (which is fine). I think we'll see what we get & then if we have to move, see what's available. I might let them know we have a large tent & screen house, so a larger site might be best.:cloud9:

I think the better of the 2 would be 1500...because of location...2000 is good if you need the larger space, but its really out of the way.

Our first ever Fw experience was the 1500 loop. It would still be my choice if we hadn't gotten the tt:thumbsup2

We actually have 2 sites booked for our May trip, strictly because we will have 3 tents and I really want to stay in the 1500 loop, not the 2000.

Now, I may cave before then and decide it's foolish to pay for 2 when we can fit on one site in 2000, but we just really really like 1500.

I have been tent camping twice at FW and both times we were in loop 1500. Wouldn't have it any other way!! So close to bus stop and to Meadows. Just love it here.:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the great advise on the 2 partial loops!! :thumbsup2 We got quite a bit to think about & figure out in the next 1.5 months!!

I agree, 1500 is better suited than 2000, you're just closer to everything. Of course, if size does become an issue, than 2000 would be your better loop as others have stated :)

Hmmm....this thread makes me wonder whether or not we'll fit in 1500 or should just go for 2000...We'll have 2 tents--15X9 and 10X11--as well as a 13X15 screen house. Would we fit in a 1500 site?

Also, we're thinking of coming in on a Thursday. DD's and I will drive down and my DH is flying in on Fri. evening. I told him that the girls and I might come in a day early to set up camp and check the place out and then all he'll have to do is take ME to the site and enjoy. (That's a good reason to get there a day early, isn't it?) :thumbsup2 Sounds like it really might be advantageous to get there on a Thurs. anyway! (Any time better than others to check in?)

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here. I've lurking for a while though. Anywhoo, my wife, myself, and son are going to be camping in FTW this Oct. and are planning to put our pup, and their tent on a site, plus maybe a screen house. Do you think 1500, or 2000?

I think you should be fine with 1500, unless you have like 50x50 tents...lol

1500 is our favorite loop. Like Carol said, if it's not big enough then scout out one that is unoccupied. Our last trip was our first time to stay in the 2000 because the site we were assigned was too small and there were no other larger sites available in the 1500 loop. We had to venture to the 2000 and found one without any problems.

How we did it: When I checked in, I told the CM that we had a larger tent than what we had when I made the reservations. I had requested a certain site which I knew I wouldn't get, but I did! It was the first time I had ever received my requested site number. I knew our new tent wouldn't fit on that site because it was a tight squeeze with our old tent. Well, I felt guilty and sugar coated a couple of apologies. She understood and was very helpful. She gave me a little card with a phone number on it and told me to drive around and if there is one that is big enough, to give her a call. Only a couple of sites were available in 1500 but not big enough so we went over to 2000. I had her on the phone as we were driving around the loop and she told me a site that was empty and I told her it wasn't. There was a SUV parked there and she said, it's supposed to be available. We stopped for a minute, and sure enough the SUV left so they were probably just checking out the place or they were doing the same thing we were, but we were the ones that ended up with it. So having a cell phone and CM on the other line as you are searching, will make it easier...and a little sugar coating never hurts ;)

Oh, and another thing. If you get there early enough, they can tell you if a site in the 1500 loop will be available that day or not. You may have to wait on it, but it could be worth the wait. They won't tell you the site number but they can tell you if one will be available.

I think you will be fine with just the tent and screen house (may have some overlapping on the pavement) but if you add the other 4-person tent, it's probably a 50/50 shot if the site will be big enough in the 1500 loop.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I think if we do end up in 1500, the screen house will probably go onto the paved part anyway. We're going to be getting a new screen house & (hopefully) a new double height queen size air mattress. I think if we do that, then our friends should be able to get onto the site as well. They'll only be there for 2 nights max anyway. She said that they put up their tent this w/e & it was a 9X9 tent. I think for only 1-2 nights (if they come), we'll be fine to squeeze into 1500.:thumbsup2

Oh, DH & I decided that we'd try one the first time & then the other the second time, unless we fall in love with the first loop too much to move!!:lmao: ;)

This thread sure has reassured me! Thanks for all the great information, everyone! We leave next Friday and have requested the 1500 loop because it just looked closer to the bus stops and CS's. With a bunch of little kids (one with a major bladder problem) we really needed to be near that.
