This will be our first stay at FW (tent), and it was recommended time again that we request loop 1500. How far is this loop from everything - Boat to MK, Bus Stops, HDDR, Campfire, etc? We are a young fam of 3 (DD 10) and happy to walk, but how far is the walk to stuff like this?

Loop 1500 has its own bus stop, so that's no issue. The Meadows area is across the road, over the foot bridge and a short walk past the tennis courts. The settlement area is a little bit of a walk, maybe a half mile at most, but with the bus stop right there, you can just hop the bus if you want.

Like Jim said, you are just across the road from many of the Forts amenities. Meadows store, pool, tennis courts, campfire program and bike barn. You are pretty much in the middle of the campground. You will have to travel to either end to catch a bus or boat to the parks. We love this area of the fort.

Woohoo! Sounds like the right spot for us, then. Hope we get put there, I did request it.

Pitched our tent in loop 1500 twice and it was an ideal location !! Just thinking it is time to do it again !
:woohoo:

Loop 1500 seems like it's in a great location. Just a question... About how many sites are in the loop? On the FW map it looks like only about 10 or so. I realize the scale is way off, so how many are there? Loop 2000 looks way bigger, but further to walk. When we go we won't be using a GC, so walking it will be. Just curious....

Don't know an exact # but more than 10.

Your right, it's MUCH smaller than 2000. I'd say roughly half the size. We've never stayed in either loop...but been looping through them in the cart many times! :thumbsup2

You can look up the loop in the FW FAQs and you're basically in the middle of FW and less than a 5 min walk to the Meadows complex - tennis courts, pool, trading post, bike barn and campfire area.

We were in the 2000 loop--site 2058--and it wasn't hard to get around from there, either. We were very close to the bus stop and the comfort station, and walked to Meadows and the "other" pool. My 6 year old enjoyed walking around the campground and didn't really complain about the distances, and my dh enjoyed finding the "back way" to various places. (Oh, I know some of you irregulars are smirking at that one! :lmao: )

Being close to the bus stop and the comfort station was the most important thing to me. So even if you don't get the 1500 loop, 2000 is quite nice, too!
