According to Al Lutz on MiceAge http://miceage.micechat.com/ today's note from the editor:
Editor's Note 3/22: Notice how busy it's been at the parks lately? TDA execs are terrified of the AP impact on the World of Color opening weekend, and they were happy to oblige WDI's request to push it back until after Fantasmic returns on May 28th. The extended hours for DCA on April 25th (the original premiere date) and the following weekdays that still show on the Disneyland.com calendar will soon be cut back to earlier closings once George K gives the plan his blessing. - Al Lutz
To me that means WOC debut in early June as DLR will want WOC going by the time summer ramps up.

WHAT!! OH NO!!! I wonder what the date is going to be. OH GEES! I booked my trip during the time it was supposed to open. I guess on one hand it eliminates the crowds I would have to deal with. But I am really hoping to see it too.

OCResort had this to report about the opening day

"A final opening date has yet to be determined, said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman. The date will be announced later this spring, he said."

sure hope it isn't another "Murphy" :scared1:

Funny - yesterday while walking around DCA I noticed that all of the construction walls say WOC is coming in "Spring", and I thought to myself, "wonder if they will change the walls if it gets pushed back". Guess summer doesn't officially start until 6/21 this year, so they still have time ;)

This stinks! It's DH and my first trip to Disneyland and May. First no Fantasmic and now I find out no WOC. I also don't think there's DEP. We were hoping for SOMETHING we can't see at WDW. Oh well.:guilty:

You are correct, we just got into spring, they have lots of time.

Good to know. Considering I'm not going until mid-July I think I'm in the clear to get to see it, lol.

I did not check the schedule but suspect you will be able to see Remember Dreams Come True. That is a fireworks/laser/special effects show that will blow you away. Don't miss it! Sorry about the other stuff. Off-season dates can be tricky at DLR.

Was June 11th not the opening date? Or is that just the start of the "Summer Nightastic" promotion?

There has never been an official date issued by Disney, only speculation and guesses by various posters on different message boards / fan sites.

There was a press release that said June 11th, but that date was later removed completely from the press release,

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for this!

See Hydroguy, there was a reason why they stopped posting up the daily park operating hours.

I think you are right and suspected as much at the time. But even if they had posted them they always reserve the right to change. :)

Thanks for the update! I'm terrified of the crowds for World of Color too...at this rate it looks like we'll be walking right into them. I sure hope I'm not there opening weekend; oh dear!

I sure hope it will be up and going when we are there June 6-10 especially since we won't get to see the EP. If we weren't going to visit our DD in Idaho after our Disney trip, we would have been at WDW and at least have gotten to see our favorite parade of all times. : (

Rumors are getting stronger that it will open June 11. If so they will be lot of testing before. Hopefully they will have tests when you are there. :)

Disney's World of Color Nighttime Spectacular
Details: A 25-minute nighttime show, World of Color will transform Paradise Bay into a water-and-fire spectacular, utilizing 1,200 individual fountains, showcasing the magic of Disney animation, from classic to contemporary. More details.
Project Status: In progress. Began November 3, 2008 with the draining of Paradise Bay. Construction began in Paradise Bay Monday, January 5, 2009.
Paradise Bay refilling: Paradise Bay was scheduled to being refilling September 9, 2009 to begin show programming and testing, but refilling was been delayed until October 2009. On October 15, the DisneyParks Blog said refilling would begin "soon" and that once refilling begain, Paradise Bay would be more than half-way full in three days.
Open Date: Previously rumored to begin soft openings in March 2010 followed by a celebrity-attended grand opening event in late April, Cast Members have now been notified the show will open on June 11, 2010.

Well, hopefully I can see the testing..A bit bummed..glad there will be no WOC crowds, but I'm taking some sorta newbies and had hoped to show them ONE fabulous evening show..now with just the fireworks going..that will be one scary scary crowd.

So, any possibility of a soft open by the week of May 23. (We usually go to WDW but my DH has a conference, so we will be there.) Leave on May 27, right before Fantasmic opens....hoping for at least one nighttime event to see.
