Looks like my dh will be "laid off" relatively soon...

....he and 3 of his friends he works with are thinking about working for this company that sends electricians all over the country....(this company did some work for the one they work for now and they guys told them they made about $100 grand a year) They would work all the overtime they could and do it for about 2 or 3 years..... sacking away all the $$ they could. Then my dh wants to buy a couple of rental properties..... sigh..... there just aren't many job prospects in Maine right now. I would basically be a single parent for a couple of years- on the upside- maybe we could afford to do some Disney trips and cruises!!

I'm sorry you're dh is getting laid off soon. But I'm glad he's looking at options and you're looking at the upside of things.

That is hard to have a spouse traveling all the time... I've been there, done that, and God willing won't go back to that...


Honestly, the family suffers. Yes, the $$$$ was good, but our marriage suffered big time for it.


DH decided that the $$$ wasn't worth it, and found a job that has no travel, good benefits, etc.

The cash is tempting, but he sort of redirected his career to make it more marketable, and that helps so much.

I just heard on Good Morning America yesterday that one of the biggest job opportunities for the future is going to be electricians. This is beacause of all the new technology and the way businesses have to set up their buildings wiring.

I hope it all works out for you. When you are overwhelmed with the single parent thing, stop by for some hugs. There's a lot of support here! Of course you know that, I'm sure.
