Looks like it's Best Rate online or Rack Rate

Well, isn't that interesting. I just can't understand why they would give passholders the old rates & the old way of doing things all the way until october 4th. Then not have that for the rest of the year. So, right now when i go onto the Best Rate Program I can't even get the resort i want for those dates, let alone the old discount. What about people who aren't computer savvy (like my parents & relatives) who also have ap's?

I agree that nonrefundable deposit makes me very uncomfortable. I have two small chiildren and one knows what can happen. I like that I can cancel up to five days with a cro ressies

I just saw on Intercot where a poster got the response from WDW that there will be no more AP rates except the ones listed as Best Rate. No more waiting for AP rates to come out. Personally I'm glad about this. It stops those from buying the AP to use just for room discounts and sort of rewards those that actually go more then 10 days.

I fail to understand why AP holders have become the only group to be charged a nonrefundable deposit.

My wife called earlier today to see about AP rates. She was told they were not available yet, but the CM said they were expecting them. So, we're still holding out hope.

By giving passholders the old rates and the old way of booking until October 4th they were able to see how successful the Best Rate program was going to be.

I can only think that they are worried that without the non-refundable deposit AP holders would book every level of resort and then go with the best value 5 days before a trip.

But there has to be a better way, heck at least let the person use the deposit towards the next years pass if they have to cancel.

This is right up there with my pet peeve, if I book a package and agree to buy park passes and dining, I can't get my money back if I have to cancel. If I commit to just staying on your property, I can play with my ressie to my hearts content.

Well, actually, that's a little missing the boat, at least in my case. We live in Texas and usually visited WDW once a year only. We decided to get an AP with our last trip (January) and will go 3 times in that one year period.
I don't mind the BRP, except for one MAJOR issue... I am in the October Black Hole! I am not at all happy about that. I've sent an email to my TA, since they booked it for me - but I plan to call Disney and complain loudly. I checked the BRP for the resort I am currently reserved at (with a AAA discount) and it is $400 less 60 days from now. Same "season", just 60 days from now so it is under the BRP.....

What do you think would have happened if no one had used the Best Rate?

I think they would have tweaked it, to make the cancellations more lenient and if that did not work, then back to the old plan but require AP in hand at the time of booking.
