Looks Like Another Snow Day Tomorrow

Enough already. Most schools in the state (CT) had last Wed. and Thursday off because of the storm that dumped two feet of snow on us. My daughter's district also had Friday off. With the weekend and MLK day today, that gave her six days in a row off. And now, it looks like a major ice storm is pretty much certain for tomorrow. Lucky for her some of her teachers have been sending work via email and phone. ;)

I wish we got snow days. We have had ONE snow day in 5 years. It's just not right :lmao::lmao::lmao:. Even in Nov when we got our 24" of snow, we didn't have a snow day, and then a few days later when we got another 12" of snow, we didn't have a snow day....dang snow plows :lmao: Oh and that "snow" day was really for excessive fog-couldn't even see the house across the street.

I am also in CT. In our town, we had snow days on Wed/Thurs last week, and they did go to school on Friday. We had Monday off for MLK Day, and today was a previously scheduled staff development day, so no snow day today. However, they have already announced a change in the midterm exam schedule for the high schools (they were supposed to be this Fri then Mon/Tues/Wed next week, now they are are Mon/Tues/Wed/Thur next week). Still subject to change if somehow we end up with another snowday tomorrow (and since the roads are still a mess from last week and today is not nearly as warm as predicted, I'd say its definitely a possibility). :headache:

Yeah, I'm thinking if this stuff doesn't melt, we will probably have at least a delay tomorrow. I can live with a delay. However, we may get more snow friday, and even some eatly next week. My daughter's school has also moved midterms, thank goodness.

check your basements. Mine has started to flood a little around the bulkhead. Trying to keep on top of it.

Looks like maybe 6 more inches are possible on Friday.

I'm avoiding going down to the basement, because I'm sure I'll find some water in the one spot that I always get it. I went outside to dig down to the storm drain at the curb in an effort to keep the water out of the basement. Unfortunately, there is a snow bank 3 feet tall and about six feet wide between the curb and the storm drain. I sent DH out to dig it out, which he did.

I hear lots of branches breaking outside, and I actually saw a few fall in the neighbors yard while I was there. It's going to be ugly when all this water and slushy stuff freezes over night. I'm assuming we are going to be set up for at least a delay tomorrow, and I'm dreading the thought of another storm on Friday.

Well, not only did he we have a snow day Tuesday, but my dd had another day off today (Wed.) as well. We both started off with delays, but as I was driving to work, they changed hers to a cancellation. It WAS extremely icy. My school start time was 9:20. Our two latest busses arrived at 10:30 and 10:55.

Counting the week-end, my daughter has had 8 days in a row off.

LOL your storms must just be timed right :rotfl:

Ah, I think I know where you are;) As far as I know, only ONE town in the state had the day off today (btw, my hometown). I know some of my friends had a lot of confusion on facebook about the schools are delayed, no they are closed, no they are delayed. I hear there were TONS of accidents there, esp. Horton Hill

I drove from Rhode Island to Uncasville CT this morning....left the house at 7 am and the roads were perfectly fine. 35 degrees. I can't believe school was cancelled...

Some schools were delayed, mostly on the western side of the state. We weren't because of mid terms. My mom in the next town over had a 90 minute delay though. The only reason they delayed was because the dirt roads are still a mess!

School is already talking about cancelations for Friday. BLECH!!!

Looks like we're going to have one Friday and probably get out early tomorrow, unless it hits earlier than expected.
