Looking to stay at the Contemporary

I am looking to purchase around 300 points for "The Contemporary" for a family vacation in April 2008. My husband had dreams of bringing the kids there since he went there as a child. (The whole "train" through the hotel thing....)
Do these points even exist? I don't see them anywhere. Please help, I would have 3 adults and 3 children. If not the Contemporary, please suggest something.

I have one child who is not good with loud noises etc and can get "over stimulated", so I know this hotel is most likely not the best, if they have a quiet room that would be great!

Thanks-

Not sure renting points to stay at the Contemporary makes a whole lot of financial sense...the Contemporary is not (yet--there are rumors that it will be, but not by 2008!) a DVC property...so while members can use points--thru the "Disney Collection"--to stay there, they (1) have to pay a $95 "trading fee" to do so, and (2) the points per night are very high (as compared to the points needed to stay at a DVC resort). Further, once points are used as "trading points" members can't get them back to use for DVC stays if something goes wrong and the reservation has to be canceled. In any event, of course it's up to you to decide whether you want to pursue renting points for your Contemporary plans...

I don't think 2008 point "charges" are out yet...but I'm looking at 2007 "charges" right now (they're likely to increase for next year, though)...for 6 people, you'll need two rooms, which in the first three weeks of April range in "cost" from 37 (standard garden view) to 73 points (atrium club) per night per room for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. For Friday & Saturday nights, the "cost" range goes up to 67 - 131 points per night per room. The points totals are a bit less (32-65/58-117) during the last week of April. And as noted, we expect increases in the points-per-night charges for 2008.

You might want to check rates you'd pay through CRO for a bigger room, or even for two rooms, before considering renting points for this trip.

Sorry, don't know anything about a "quiet room" (if there is such a thing) at the Contemporary...

You would do much better to check out Annual Pass discounts for the Contemporary through CRO. As mentioned above, it is not a DVC Resort and very pricey to reserve on points. Good Luck.

Renting a reservation through a DVC member can be a very good deal, but ONLY if you stay at a DVC resort. You'll almost certainly pay a LOT more than you would if you booked through CRO.

The previous poster gave you some examples of point costs per night at the CR. Depending on the season, you can get a studio at OKW for as little as 8 points a night, or at VWL for as little as 12 points a night. Compare that to the CR points, and you'll see that that's what people mean when they talk about the value of renting points......even DVC members don't often use their points at the non-DVC resorts.

It sounds like it's a been a family dream to stay at CR, so I won't suggest other resorts. Watch for discount codes and AP rates, you'll probably find a nice rate. Good luck!

To clarify, right now there is no Disney Vacation Club at the Contemporary Resort. People who own at a DVC resort can trade their points and stay in a hotel room at the Contemporary Resort, but the trade value is pretty bad, so it's not something you want to do often.

However, Disney is erected a huge building full of DVC-like room next door and connected to the Contemporary Resort. Disney won't say what that building will be, but everybody and their brother thinks at least part of that building will be a new DVC resort.
