We have also used the Fort as day visitors. While we aren't lucky enough to live locally, we have used the Fort while staying at another resort. We rented bikes, and even used the pool. Debbie is right...no one asks for resort ID. We used the pool as well. We didn't take poolside seats from FW guests..there were plenty available. I don't think you'd have a problem if you took your bikes to the Fort and spent the day. Your plan doesn't seem to include staying overnight, but to return home. Then just make a couple of day trips. While you may not be able to BBQ on your own site...you can pack a lunch or get something to eat at Trails End. From what I've read the Meadow poolside snack bar is going to have some quick service items available as well. Unless of course by having your name on a reservation you had hoped to take advantage of early magic hours at the parks, or free parking. Then of course you'd need to get a reservation.

Okay..edited when I saw that Carol has posted there are several grills available to you to BBQ. Even better! Just go and enjoy.

Nobody at either pool checks for I.D. Nobody stops you and asks what site you're staying on. Nobody cares. FtW is too big for the CM's to know if you belong there or not"

When my child turned a certain age and she was now over the limit for certain free attractions or to eat free at restaurants, friends would say just lie about her age. I could never do that since to me that would be like stealing. I do go over to Ft Wilderness for a day and I pay for the pony rides and buy food and use the playground but I would never feel right going in the pool unless I was a paying overnight guest.

I also don't ride a bike now, my child just likes to ride around a bit and it would be difficult to get a bike from the parking lot and I would like to be able to park my car at the campsite for convenience. It would obviously have to be the right situation and we would only be there to ride bikes, BBQ.
Just imagine if all f Orlando and surrounding areas came to use their pool.

Whap whap whap - the sound of a dead horse being beaten. The longer this thread goes on, the creepier it gets. I think we may be playing into someone's hand for entertainment purposes.

If you are staying at another resort and use a different pool, I thint that is called pool hopping an i am not sure if that works but we are not staying at another resort so it would be unethical.

Mr. Ft Wilderness if you don't like the thread then unsubscribe, I can't since I started it. But it has gone a little to far. Start something more interesting.

:rolleyes1... Pass the Merlot....:drinking1

As somebody else said, even if you were to split a site with somebody, why would they want to give up the right to park their car at the site to allow you to do that. The sidewalk is literally 100 FEET from the parking lot. How is that difficult!!! (I personally don't thing ANYONE should park their car at their site. They should all be moved upfront after unloading. But that is another thread entirely)

OK you are right about doing the right thing about the pool, but the pool and driving within the loops are the ONLY resource at the campground that is restricted to guests per their rules. All other resources are open to ALL.!!!!

I have to agree. I started off reading the thread but everytime someone said hey, try this or try that it will not work with you. I don't know what anybody else can suggest. If divine intervention itself stepped in I think you'd say oh no, that won't work because the wind might blow from the wrong direction that day. I mean COME ON already. I hope Scott will close the thread because I'm gettin some points for being nasty if not.

I absolutely agree with Deb!! The sidewalk in front of the kennel is 100 feet from the overflow lot. (You mentioned it would be too far from the lot to a safe biking area.) I don't see how that is too far. There are bicyle safe sidewalks all the way from the kennel to the beach!! Just this past weekend, myself and DH staying off property parked our car in the overflow lot during the day and used the Disney bus system from there, we walked around the campground, visited the stores, and even parked our ECV overnight in golf cart parking (covered up and locked) so we wouldn't have to keep loading it in and out of the truck. The campfire movie is open to all, the games at the pool during the day are open to all, and unless they start checking resort IDs with the upgrade, visiting the pool is not a problem. The pony rides, etc are open to all!! I also confirmed yesterday that yes, there are about 3 grills next to a pavilion by the tennis courts. I would even venture to say you could lock your bikes up on the racks anywhere at the Fort overnight. (I've done that before also when I started the day at one end of the campground and ended the day at the other end, and just didn't feel like going to pick up my bike.)

I'm not saying your plan is not a good one if you find the right family, but it is not the ONLY way.

Hi,
I never said anything about a safe biking area, I said that I do not ride a bike and my child like to ride a little but I could never walk from the parking lot to the beach and I have never seen someone put a bike on a bus. The pony rides I pay for but I would never dream of using a pool just because they don't check ID's if I were not a paying camping guest. Let alone lug a cooler with food all over to BBQ at a pavillion. I am not asking for advice the thread was about if anyone wanted to try to work something out that would be beneficial for all parties if it is even feasible.

I'm thinking there have got to be parks in your area where your child could ride a bike and you could barbeque and none of this would be an issue. It's really bordering on creepy obsession now.

Well, as I stated (and you didn't quote me on that part), even if you were sharing with someone, your car would have to be in overflow cause their car would already be the car at the site, so you would be back to getting the bike and the grilling stuff to the campsite.

There's too many leaves on the trees in the other parks which don't leave enough sun for her child. If the sun angle isn't just exactly as it is at the fort it will mess everything up. Don't you know anything? :lmao:

I have some Cabernet Sauvignon if anyone has dark chocolate to share! (I'm outta Merlot too)

Oh believe me, the bottle is already open!
