Hi -

I am new to DVC rentals so I don't know if this will be possible...

I am possibly looking to rent Sunday, December 19th - Friday, December 24th.

My family and I (DH and DS) are flexible as to which resort to go to because our dates are pretty much fixed.

Does anybody have any idea if it is to late to get reservations? Also in looking at the points value I see that for those dates the "points" could be as low as 40 but obviously go higher for different resorts and accomodations. I see that people are selling these points for $9 to $10 each. Is this the going rate?

Any information would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks!

When I phoned member services on Tuesday there was some availability from around Dec 10th to 24th. That may have changed, however. Being flexible helps a lot. The prime resorts (BC, BW and WL) seem to go first. Old Key West is generally to last to fill up (except for Grand Villas), but also offers the best value.

The going rate is $10 per point. Some will rent for less to make sure all their points are used. Others will hold reservations for key dates... like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc... and charge $12 a point because nothing else is available. The other important thing is how well does the DVC member communicate. Do they respond right away or does it take two days?

As a renter... be prepared! Know when and where you want to go! Be somewhat flexible. Be prepared to communicate... whether by phone or email... and make yourself available at least twice a day to respond to questions until the deal is done. If your dates are available... act. Be prepared to pay a deposit right away. Signing up for a paypal account may help. There are fees for transactions, but if you want to make sure you get your reservation ASAP then paying and extra $20 in fees is not always a bad thing. Be prepared to have to make full payment at least 60 days out and pay a penalty should you have to cancel.
