Looking forward to a crowd-free Disney Trip! **Update 9/4**

Awww, poor Luke! Hope he feels better soon!

Last I checked, Brook hadn't started her TR, I think she's still trying to get back into a routine after such a long trip. I can't wait for it though! :yay:

Yay! I'm so glad you got the ADRs you wanted! :dance3: I love lunch at the Crystal Palace. We always do it every trip!

Thanks Christine!!! I'm really excited too! Stephanie also posted the MNSSHP dates for me, so now I know that I definitely don't need to change anything around! Thank goodness! LOL

I cannot wait until Crystal Palace!! I was really considering getting rid of a character meal, but there's no way I can get rid of CP. I've never been inside but the outside of the restaurant is just gorgeous! We try to eat there every trip without ADR's but we've never been lucky enough to get in. Last trip it just didn't work out because I had it scheduled too early in the morning towards the end of our trip...so the anticipation just keeps building to eat there!

Glad to hear that you eat there every trip & love it! Anything specific you would suggest to eat?

Yippee for getting your ADRs booked!

I think you'll be fine with a 2:30 ressie at Kona. It will probably take you at least an hour to eat and then if you still have some time to kill you can take a stroll around the Poly and check it out - such a pretty resort!

Awww, poor Luke! Hope he feels better soon!

Last I checked, Brook hadn't started her TR, I think she's still trying to get back into a routine after such a long trip. I can't wait for it though! :yay:

Thanks Michelle! I'm so excited I got all of the ADR's we wanted! I did decide to keep Kona and get rid of 1900 Park Fare and Chefs for that same day.

I know we're staying at the Beach Club & its gorgeous there...but the Poly is my dream resort!!! I will definitely make sure we have some time after to look around. I'm also throwing around the idea of scheduling a photo session at the Poly for a different day or even that morning. We could have the photo session scheduled for around 1pm and still make it to our 2:30 ADR at Kona. I'm not 100% sure though. I might just ask my husband to take some pics of Luke & I around the resort (because he isn't fond of being in pictures! lol)

Luke is resting right now. He woke up early, went back to sleep for a couple of hours, and then we went to the store to get some medicine for him. Since we've been home, he's just been resting & finally fell asleep about 20 minutes ago. His fever is down but he still looks miserable...poor little guy!

Thanks for the update on Brook...I didn't think she started her TR yet but just wanted to double check! I completely understand that...it takes me forever to get caught up on everything once we get back from 7-10 days...I can't imagine 14! :rolleyes1

I also wanted to ask you...what lenses do you take to Disney with your Canon Xsi?

I have to admit- I did read it all but only the updates and I skipped the comments. It killed me because I knew that you probably responded to questions where I could use the response but the day is only so long! I had a filing/ sorting/ cleaning day at work yesterday so I used your report to break up my boredom!
Any cbr or toddler tips are always welcome! We are new to cbr.

Your plans look great! My only comment would be to make sure you have a plan for MNSSHP. There are so many things there that you can't normally do!! The time goes by very quickly! We planned our must do characters first thing for much shorter lines. And against my advise everyone wanted to wait and eat at the party instead of before so we wasted a lot of valuble time.
The boo to you parade Is my favorite! I wished we had watched it twice that night. We had made "if they are needed" touring plans for our fall trip and the party was the only time I wished we had stuck to them.

I have to go find that cake thread. I had thought about getting the chocolate slipper for my dd but didn't want ds to get jealous. But that pirate ship sounds interesting...

I still think its so awesome that you read the entire TR! I've done that before...I actually read an entire PJ the other night on the wedding boards that was 14 pages long! popcorn::

If you think of any questions, just ask! You can ask on here or feel free to send me a PM. I have ALOT of advice regarding a toddler at Disney & CBR in general. I will make up a list & then post it for you! :thumbsup2

I definitely want to have a plan for the MNSSHP! I want to make a list of things to do before we leave on our trip. And then, since our MK day is on Day 4 and our MNSSHP is on Day 7, I want to add to the list after we've been to MK. Anything that we didn't do at MK, I want to do at the MNSSHP. Right now, the only things I "have" to do at the party are: see the 7 dwarfs, try to see as many characters as possible in their costumes, watch the parade & fireworks, attend 1 dance party even if only for a little while, trick or treat trails, and shop of course! lol I'm sort of glad our MK day is before the MNSSHP day so that I can see what merchandise is only out at the party.

Here's the thread for the cakes! Unfortunately I don't remember where the pictures of the smaller cakes are...I'm thinking towards the end but not at the very end. Sorry that doesn't help much. Just don't give up...there are some cakes on there for over $150-300 but there's also alot of great ideas under $30-50. I really LOVE the chocolate slipper for girls!

Yay for getting all your ADR's!!!! How exciting! I can't wait till my ADR day, and I am only really planning on making a couple!! Of course now that I am pushing my trip back, I have to wait a whole extra month!! I think Kona at 2:35 will work well. And I really enjoyed Mexico's QS last time.

HOPE!!! Did you hear that the MNSSHP dates have been announced??

wdw news today announced today the MNSSHP and MVMCP dates - No surprises for Sept at least Don't know about the others.

Oh boy, Stephanie! I must be behind again!!!

I had no idea you moved back your trip dates. I knew you were going towards the end of September, but are you going even later now? I am a bad friend & a bad DIS-er!!! I think I have been so obsessed with making my ADR's & changing around plans five million times that I have gotten behind on every single one of my subs! :sad2:

I have also been helping my mom plan their trip to Disney in October! Who knows, maybe you guys will cross paths at some point! I would try to set up a time when you could meet them (my mom is alot like me so it would sort of be like meeting me in person!) -- but their touring style is...umm...how do I describe it? CRAZY!!! Honestly, I don't think I could vacation with them to Disney. They are just go-go-go from before park opening right up until the last park closes. Every.single.day.of.their.trip. I think my mom would have a heart attack if I suggested that she meet someone at 11am on Tuesday...just an example, but you know what I mean! I talked to my dad last trip & he somehow got away from her & just went to sit on a bench! I think he enjoyed his quiet time! :lmao:

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting the MNSSHP hours for me!!! I didn't see it until this morning & you had posted it Saturday, but its just so great to see! I don't have to change any of my plans since a party is on the 20th! :woohoo:

It also helps me when I'm helping my mom plan their trip because now I'll know which days MK will close at 7pm. They get park hoppers so it won't be an issue if they're at MK that morning, but I don't want them getting a surprise when they get kicked out of the park. How about I printed her the October park hours the other day & was sooooo excited that I found them 3 weeks early...only to realize I had printed out 2010 hours NOT 2011...oops!

Going to catch up on your PTR now!!!

I saw on Facebook that Luke wanted to know where the nice weather went today -- so cute! It was gorgeous here yesterday, as well, and back to the 40's today. I'll take it b/c at least it isn't the 20's and 30's and snowing!

So glad you got your ADRs booked and that you got all you wanted. I'm very excited that you may be eating at Kona; I have been dying to eat there!

Thats exactly how our weather was too, Meghan!!! I was so upset when it got so cold the next morning! Its fairly warm today but the sun isn't out. I heard on the radio that another cold front is coming through...why can't the cold just go away?!? :confused3

You are right though! I'll take 40 over 20-30 anyday...plus the snow is completely gone so Spring must be on its way! ;)

I'm super excited about the ADR's that we got! I was thrilled when my husband told me to just make whichever ones I wanted! And then to actually get all of the right restaurants, days, and times was amazing!!! :thumbsup2

I'll make sure to take alot of pictures at Kona for you! You should schedule it for your next trip!!! As I told Michelle, I have decided to definitely keep Kona & get rid of 1900 Park Fare and Chefs for that afternoon. After thinking about it & getting lots of good advice on here, I think the time for Kona will be perfect.

i forgot about the dance parties! dd had a blast there. she was one of only a couple children there and i have pictures of her dancing with donald and daisy! so much fun!

i think i found a picture of the pirate cake- i think its the my mini surprise cake? if so, then it appears that i can order it just about everywhere that i can order the slipper and then some. so thanks for the help!
your toddler tips sound great, thanks!
the only specific cbr question i can think of now is did you do a crib? i have never set foot in a moderate room to know if a crib will fit. ds won't sleep in a pack n play though, so we will basically just have to leave it out the whole time. (if i have any other questions i'll try to pm you instead of taking over your ptr lol)

I also wanted to ask you...what lenses do you take to Disney with your Canon Xsi?

Wow, I'm very impressed that you remembered what kind of camera I have! I only have 2 lenses, the one that came with the camera, which is just a standard 18-55mm, and the zoom lens which is also a Cannon with image stabilization, efs 55-250mm. I'd love to get a couple of really good lenses for it, but they just aren't in the budget right now!

So glad that you got all your dining ressies!!! We have very similar tastes in food it looks like! We are eating at many of the same places in Sept too!

It snowed here yesterday :sad2: I will say that it wasn't a lot at all, and it didn't accumulate or even stick except for in very small, random patches (like on some patches of grass), I think b/c the ground was pretty wet? I'll take it, though; no accumulation works for me! We are supposed to get more snow showers tomorrow and Thursday, I think, but I hope that it doesn't accumulate then, either. Charles and I are going to Boston for our anniversary at the beginning of April and I'm praying it's not super cold. Last year on our anniversary, it hit 90! I kept on hearing that it was going to be in the upper 70's/low 80's so I was walking around Boston in dark jeans and a black t-shirt. I was dying. :lmao:

I can't wait to hear what you think about Kona! My only concern about eating there would be what my sister would eat b/c she doesn't eat red meat or chicken, and she's just picky about taste and food in general. I will admit that she has gotten better, but she is still veryyyy picky. Whenever we visit my grandmother in Ohio, she always asks my mother how she gets her protein. It never fails. Then she asks Kailyn if she's still hungry. Kailyn says no. My grandmother says, "well, you barely ate anything, you must be hungry still." For a legally blind 94 year old woman, she sees a LOT! :rotfl:

I have absolutely NO problem at all with you posting questions on my PTR! That's what the DIS is for...helping out friends! ;)

However, I will PM you & give you my email address. Then we can also communicate that way...although I do tend to get on DIS more frequently than checking my email. So if its an urgent question, post on my PTR that you sent me an email so I make sure to check it! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping that Luke will like the dance parties! I have images in my head of him having a blast with the characters, but who knows! He tends to like things I think he will be scared of & he doesn't like things I think he will love! Funny how that works!

Glad you found the pirate cake on the thread. Yes, I do believe its found pretty much at all of the TS restaurants. You will definitely be able to get the Pirate cake for your DS at the same restaurants as the slipper for your DD! :goodvibes

About the crib, no I've never used one! I wish I could help you out there but unfortunately I can't. I can try to give you advice regarding one though. First of all, we took our son when he was 10 months old and 2 years old. Both times, we paid extra for a King bed room & he slept in between us. Even the Bell Services CM thought we were crazy & asked us about 10 times if he could run down to the main building & grab a pack & play for us. We said no it was fine, he sleeps in between us...but he still insisted on getting on just in case! We finally assured him it was ok & that we had done the same thing our past 2 trips. I thought it was very nice of him to suggest it even though it wasn't needed! :goodvibes

Now, I'm pretty sure that they will provide a pack & play for you free of charge, but they do charge extra per night for a crib. I don't know the cost. You might know more than me if you've ever used a crib at Disney before! Since you said your DS won't sleep in a pack & play, I would definitely get the crib. I don't think it will bother you (as far as space is concerned) being in the room all the time.

I'm assuming you are getting 2 queen beds. We had a King bed room & I can tell you that there was a very large empty space in between the bed & the door. We also had a corner room though & I've heard those are a little bigger (although I don't honestly think they're any different than a regular room other than they have 2 windows! lol) I'll try to find a picture from last trip to show you the amount of space.

To give you an idea, I "stored" the full size stroller, 3 large suitcases, my carry-on bag, and some laundry between the bed & door. The nightstand was also there & my son usually put one of the chairs over there as well. If you're getting a room with 2 queen beds, I still think a crib would fit comfortably in the room. I've never stayed in one though so I can't say for sure. I do know that in all of the rooms, there is a space in between the bench & vanity area. If the crib was in your way, you could always move it over there & then roll it back over by the bed at nighttime.

Sorry that was alot of blabbering! lol I hope it helps though! I'll find the pics of inside the room & post them here for you! And as I said, don't feel bad asking questions on here! You never know if someone else has the same question & you might help them by asking it here! :goodvibes

Thanks, I remembered that you & Brook both have the Xsi because I probably asked you both a million times what type you had! :lmao:

Your information is actually perfect! I REALLY need a good zoom lens! Right now I only have the one that came with it. Its been fine so far for photographing household projects, holidays, family events, and some outdoor pictures at a local park. But I'd really like to get something with a better zoom for Disney.

I don't really have buying a new lens in my budget either! I've been to a few camera & electronics stores looking at them, but most are just too expensive! I actually asked a few family members for an advance on my birthday money  My birthday is at the beginning of October so its only a few weeks difference since we're leaving for Disney mid-September. They've all been very understanding...I think they're trying to be supportive of my two "hobbies" -- photography & Disney!

So glad that you got all your dining ressies!!! We have very similar tastes in food it looks like! We are eating at many of the same places in Sept too!

Thanks Reese!!! That's great that we're eating at similar places! :goodvibes

You'll have to send me a PM once you get back & let me know what you ate & what you think of some of the restaurants! Then I'll know if I should cancel anything before our trip a few weeks later!

Wait!!! What....was....that....word....you...just...said ?????

SNOW!!!!????!!!!????

Sorry couldn't resist! I think you have a pretty good idea how much I hate snow!

I'm glad that it didn't accumulate much! I'm not sure if we have any snow in the forecast for this week or not. I do know it was supposed to be near 60 again today & its only 46! A cold front is supposed to come in tonight. I should probably watch the weather to see how cold its going to be, but I'm pretty sure I'm trying to avoid it!

I hope that you & Charles have great weather for your trip to Boston!!! :thumbsup2

I learned the hard way about the changing weather & now I always pack a few different sets of clothes when going anywhere! Basically I just throw an extra tshirt, sweater, and tank top in Luke's bag and a pair of shorts if I'm wearing jeans. Last September, we were going to a birthday party almost 3 hours away. We were still in PA but we were going really far to the South. I made the mistake of assuming the weather would be the same there as it was here. Well, Luke wore a tshirt with a sweater over it with jeans. I wore a long sleeve shirt with jeans...and I was sooooo hot! It was ridiculous! He was lucky because I put a tshirt under his sweater so we just took his sweater off. Kids are lucky! They can run around in their underwear or diapers & no one thinks anything of it!

That is so funny about your grandmother! I completely relate to Kailyn's situation with eating!!! I never ate red meat until about 9 years ago when I met my husband! I honestly am not sure where I got my protein from, but my mom & grandma were obsessive about making sure I always ate "properly" so I'm sure I got it somehow! My grandma is big on vitamins, so I wouldn't be surprised if she used to give me a vitamin with protein in it.

Looking back, I have no idea what I used to eat. I know I loved salads & mac n cheese...but I also loved chicken so I would eat grilled chicken salads alot. Hamburgers still disgust me...eww...I won't touch them! Sometimes when I make my husband burgers for supper, I don't even eat...it just grosses me out that I just grilled burgers! :rolleyes1

The good thing about never eating meat before & now eating it, is that I have a great respect for everyone's food choices! I completely understand when people don't eat something & when I'm making a meal, I try to accomodate everyone's tastes.

Luckily Luke's taste buds are perfect for Disney children's meals...he asks me for chicken & french fries every single day! :lmao:

I'll definitely be thinking of you guys next week & hoping the weather in Boston is beautiful!!!! :goodvibes

Luke has a fever so I'm heading to town right now to get some meds for him :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

and...a Taco Bell run for mom...:lmao:

I will respond to all of you later while he's napping!

Also, anyone know if Brook started her TR yet? I haven't been on here alot catching up on my subs (but I need to!) -- Don't want to miss out! Her pictures & reports are AMAZING!!! :goodvibes

Jack is sick too!!! He has pink eye, tonsilitis, and now he is congested as well... all together it makes for a pretty unattractive package!! Luckily he is finally on antibiotics (the doc at minute clinic just ignored the gross white stuff all over his tonsils) so he is doing better!

Yes, I am planning on moving my trip back a month :confused3 It's a hard decision to make, but if nothing else, this week has taught me I need to keep some of my sick time set aside and not use it all on a vacation that could easily be moved...

Don't worry about falling behind, after all, I think we all have plenty of time to catch up!!!

So sorry that Jack is sick! Luke seems a little better today. He seemed perfectly normal this morning but started feeling a little warm again this afternoon. I gave him a tylenol to be on the safe side.

I went & caught up on your PTR right after I posted that I was behind!

I wrote it on your report but I think its a good choice to move your trip. Its alot better when you don't have to stress over vacation time at work!

Hey Hope, I know you've been waiting for this, any may have already found it, but just in case....Brook started her TR http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2684185

Thanks Michelle! By the time I got over there, I was already on page 5!

You guys are so sweet! :goodvibes And, it's up to page 5?!? I'm already behind on my own TR...big surprise. LOL!

I'm so happy to finally start the TR. Life kept interrupting and limiting my DIS time for a while there!

Anyway - Hope, how did I NOT realize you had this PTR going since the beginning of Feb?!?! :headache: I'm finally here and caught up. September, oh, lovely September...my favorite time of the year for Disney. Remember that 5 minute wait for Soarin'? ::yes:: As I was reading your plans all I could think of was "avoid EMH and avoid Fantasmic days" - but, then I saw you subscribed to TouringPlans, and that is just what they suggest. It WORKS. Only hit EMH parks for EMH, then hop. :thumbsup2

I really hope you get LOW crowds. Back in our early September trip we had no crowds all week long except the one day we went to MK on an AM EMH day....that was busy! (but nothing compared to what you have experienced even still)

Reading your ADR list was making my stomach growl. I miss Disney food!

Oh-and CONGRATS on the Beach Club!!!!! You will LOVE it! SAB is simply amazing. Seriously. If Luke likes water and sand even a little bit, he's going to love this. We literally had to lift Henry off the sand and carry him away...I think he was ready to just live right there at SAB. It's an amazing and beautiful...and HUGE pool. :lovestruc

:lovestruc

Isn't it exciting to come back from your trip & see how many of us were anxiously awaiting your report?!? You definitely have a TON of wonderful DIS friends!

We all knew that it would take awhile to get adjusted to "regular life" after 14 days at Disney!!! So we tried our best to be patient...honest we did! :lmao:

And yes, you are up to page 5!!! :thumbsup2

Don't worry about it at all...I have been behind on ALL of my subs because of my ADR's! I was just obsessing over them & changing them five million times! I couldn't concentrate on anything other than ADR's...then I realized that I just needed to chill! :rolleyes1

As you read, I did end up with everything that we wanted. I had to fine-tune some plans, but I think it ended up working out better than my original plans.

I absolutely :lovestruc your Trip Report so far!!! I think it will really inspire me & my September trip. You know I'm an obsessive planner! But just making these ADR's has taught me that I really need to slooooow down a little bit! I am already stressing over having a schedule with only 1 ADR per day (I know, weird, right?) So I'm definitely thinking that we're going to choose a park for each day...and that's it! No more planning! We'll probably each choose a ride/show or two that we each really, really want to do...but even if we don't get to that, no biggie!

I just want to enjoy it & go with the flow, especially now that we're staying at the Beach Club! Not sure if/when we'll have another opportunity like this. We're really treating ourselves this trip so I want to enjoy every single minute! :thumbsup2

I am soooo glad to hear about Henry at SAB! That really confirms my decision to take the water park out of our schedule! Everyone that I know has told me SAB is like its own little water park anyway! I don't think we need more than that. I love how the bottom of the pool is real sand! In June after our Photo Session, we ate at Hurricane Hanna's & really enjoyed just looking at the pool! I can't wait to swim in it!!!

I was showing Luke some of your pics this morning & he asked "where is Henry's mommy?" and I had to explain that you were taking the picture! Then he said "where's Henry's daddy?" so I had to find a picture of all 3 of you to show Luke. And then he said "Oh, ok...they're all there now." :lmao:

No worries at all about not finding this PTR until now! (Although I will admit that I missed having your input!) I was going to PM you back in Feb, but I knew you had lots to do before your trip! I honestly have trouble getting ready for 10 days & then recovering & getting back to normal once we get back home...I have no idea what I'd do for 14! :lmao:

It ended up working out great subscribing to Touring Plans. I printed out some information for our trip & then for my parents October trip! They always get park hoppers & after morning EMH's, they hop to another park just as you said! They're crazy though -- they see every Rope Drop & park closing for 7 days straight! I could never tour with my parents! :lmao:

We usually sleep in on vacation, so I doubt we'll hit any EMH's except maybe the night hours. Usually once we get back to the resort for the day, if we notice evening EMH's at a park & we need somewhere to go, we'll head over to that park. We usually don't plan it ahead of time, but I always make sure to have the schedules with me!

Gotta run to the store but I hope to post another update soon! Glad you are back & caught up on the DIS! :thumbsup2
