I know year to year it can change but im thinking a few years out, as we try to save and also convince someone to go with us :) Besides the EPCOT flower and garden festival is there anything else going on in the beginning part of may that would make you not go. Something like the cheerleaders or something like that?

Why would the Flower and Garden Festival make anyone not want to go? It's one of the reasons to go at that time, along with the gorgeous weather and very manageable crowds. Seriously, I think it's the absolute best time to go!

If you want plan disney, then you want to go in summer and only summer. Every other time of year disney has something going on almost constantly and it brings the people in.

I'm confused why this would stop you from going, we love the seasonal events.

but you mentioned a few years out, as all the new things like animal kingdom at night, pandora, star wars, toy story and whatever else might not be announced open it's going to bring in more and more events and thing happening. If we're talking 5 years out, then your getting into the 50th anniversary and that's probably going to be a big deal.

The Flower and Gaden festival would be my impetus TO go. I am still mourning the trip I had to cancel that we planned around this event.

I think the Op is asking if a group, cheerleaders, soccer, etc. will be there in May.

We have not been in May, only summer. We've seen the overseas groups. And one time there was a major soccer event. But, we saw them at the resort.

The Flower and Garden Festival is amazing! Coupled with the beautiful warm weather, early May is one of the best times of the year to visit Disney.

Yeah I'm not sure if the OP meant that F&G was a reason not to go. But, in case they did, I don't think the F&G festival makes it too crowded or something. I've been twice, both kind of by accident, and never felt it made me want to avoid the park. It's quite beautiful.

In 2014 we went from the 5th to the 10th, it was a great time, we left the day before Mother's Day and before the then Star Wars weekends started. We also missed the Star Wars "may the fourth" be with you event. While the parks were not empty they certainly were very doable, especially emh eve in HS and Epcot. MK was open pretty late a couple of nights which was great also. The weather was warm and we even opted to spend a whole day at TL which we rarely ever did during all our years of Feb. vacations.

This is correct im not looking to miss the F&G thing but was hoping to avoid other such HUGE events/nonscheduled things for disney like the pop warner stuff or even gay day(not saying that would be a reason but things unannounced)

Sorry if im confusing lol

The Varsity All-Star cheerleading championships are April 29 -May 1 this year. Was about that same time last year. 2000 cheerleaders and their agents... er, mothers. DD10 went last year. I don't know what most participants do, but most of her team stayed off site, and the bulk of their activity is at the sports complex. They spent portions of a couple days in the parks. DD's team split into small groups with essentially a 1:1 adult-kid ratio.

There's Cinco de Mayo, so you could avoid that Epcot day, but they said that doesn't affect crowds that much. We are specifically going this year to hit May the 4th and May 6th Nurses Day.

Gay Days are June. Pop Warner is early December. But quite honestly, neither of these have an impact on the crowds at the parks.

January has lots of teen tour groups.

Jersey week impacts crowds. I think that's around Mardi Gras. Other states have breaks around that time too.

Jersey week is in November, not February.

The first time we went to F&G was May 2009 and we heard about the no rain before we went. The entire time we were there there were monsoon rains! Don't think that statements here are any kind of guarantee. I like F&G but still prefer F&W.
