I think it is very important to remember that the trip is about them. Do not go commando style - let your kids through their energy level and behaviour determine the itinerary. If they are tired - leave the parks even if that means you miss the fireworks or parades. Pushing them to get the most out of the trip will likely lead to disaster - and you only need to look around while in the parks to realize just how many meltdowns occur at WDW, by both children and parents.
