Looking for thoughts on no golf cart or bikes and where to stay

Not going to get golf cart. Just cant see spending the money. Also, with 4 of us I have no good way to bring bikes given my trailer. So, how will it work and what loop would be best. I probably will be taking boat to MK but driving to the others. We will be there for two weeks in mid June.

I'm like you. I boat to the MK and drive to the other Disney Parks.

That's why I reserve a Preferred site (closest to the beach/dock to MK). I don't mind walking anywhere at the Fort (even the far end from wherever I am). I don't want to pay for a cart and while we bring bikes on some trips, we haven't on all. So my answer doesn't change.

So the Preferred loops (100/200 for us or 300 for pet-friendly) are easy walking distance to the MK boat dock. One time I reserved a Preferred and was bumped up to a Premium in 400 loop but it was just across the main road from 100 so it was essentially the same as staying in a Preferred.

Early June is warm and you might see some daily thunder boomers but the Fort is easily handled without a golf cart or bikes.

Request loop 700 or 400.

Both are the nearest Premium loops to the Fort beach/boat dock. Being in site 732 is closer than being in loop 200 site 218 FWIW. (I was in 218 in one trip. Nothing wrong with it at all).

400 is a small Premium loop and an easy walk to Trails End/beach/boat dock.

Yeah, we stayed at 400 last year and loved it, great loop. Our site was on the outer edge right by the road. We could walk right through the trees and come out at the entrance to the 100 loop. Very convenient!

We always request a preferred loop near the boat dock and almost always get one. That puts us close enough to walk to boats, also catch bus at Settlement.

Also, it's possible to not get a cart or bring bicycles and get around on foot/bus just fine. We've never had either and have been camping there since 1972.
In fact, we choose to never drive anywhere - just use Disney's transportation (actually, never even bring our toad there).

Of course, nothing wrong with getting a cart, or biking, and lots of campers enjoy both, but it's definitely enjoyable without either also - just a personal preference.

Golf carts are fun but nobody needs one. When we go by the outpost bus stop and see all the Disney carts that sit all day (@ $65+) just so you save about 10 minutes not taking the internal buses, we can't calculate how much Disney just made $$$$$$$. We also take Disney buses everywhere. Parking and waiting for the Tram eats a lot of time.

I saw a guy at the campground this week pulling in towing a large trailer. On the front of his truck he had a bike rack mounted somehow. Looked like a trailer hitch but on the front of the truck. Might be an option to bring those bikes.

I have done it without a cart or bikes before myself. It's certainly doable but the time wasted walking to the stop and then waiting for a bus adds up fast and takes away from enjoyment time. Another option than paying $65/day WDW prices for a cart is TeeTime. I just booked with them for this summer and the price was about half that.

Just to reiterate a long held position on the DIS Camping Forum:

"Golf Carts are fun but nobody needs one". Cousin Ed said it very simply. It's very true.

That money is better used elsewhere (dining, souvenirs, more days' tickets).

Of course, unless folks have won the Powerball Lottery, then it doesn't matter. Or have money to spend elsewhere.

Actually Ed it was intended so they could hook up the winch on the front or rear to pull them out of the mud. Although I will say that the bikes covering up the front at least make them look better (even the designers could tell it was needed)

If you opted for premium I will seriously back up the 400 loop. Have stayed there and it was a super easy walk to the Marina. 700 would be my 2nd choice in that matter.

I 3rd the waste of money that is a golf cart unless you have a special need or family member who is limited in mobility. I have hopefully rented from Kenny (no way I'd pay $65 a day) for the last time. My youngest is old enough now to be able to ride her own bike. So I'll be bringing them in the back of the truck (I don't have to distribute the weight of two bikes to the front of my truck in order for it to be able to handle it).

Anyway, don't want to get the thread off topic.

Back to the OP's question. If you're gonna drive to all the parks but the MK you could really be in any loop. If you have kids or a pet there might be loops that appeal to you more.

We were in 700 last trip, brought the bikes with us but they never got off the ladder. Just walked to everything and drove to the parks other than MK. I've thought the same thing about the golf carts, $65 a day to drive and let sit all day. Think of the Mickey bars I could stock in the freezer with that money! Somebody suggested these on here not long ago, bought one and really like it, for the price it would be about a 4 day golf cart rental.

It's electric so it is allowed. Seen lots of those on last trip.
