Tomorrow night I'm going to see The Ataris at Deep Ellum live. There's 4 bands & the doors open at 7pm (meaning the first band will probably start around 7:30 since it's a week night).

Here's who is going:my sister, my friend & me. We already have tickets. My sister wants to get there somewhat early. I want to get there at least before 8:00.

Here's the rub: my friend can get out of work around 5:30. She'd be home around 6:30 (to let her dog out & "get ready") probably a 30 minute stint. It will take her another hour to drive to my apartment (so she'd get there at 8 ) & then about 40 minutes to get to the club. Not to mention she might want to leave a little early as well.

I suggested that she drive by herself (she knows where it's at), but she doesn't want to walk around the club area by herself & also doesn't want to try to find us in there (it's about the size of 2 individual movie theaters put together).

I called the club & they don't allow in & outs. They said there are a couple parking lots really close to the club.

How good of a friend is she?

It seems as though she wants to control the evening on her terms. I personally would want to be there a little before 8, concert tickets aren't cheap and I would want my money's worth.

She either needs to get the lead out and hustle it up to your place - or be prepared to walk in by herself. Is the area safe for women by themselves at night?

Pam

I wouldn't want to walk around Deep Ellum by myself at night, but I agree with Pam that she can just go a little faster than she normally does tomorrow after work. Surely there is something she can do to get there sooner, like work through lunch and leave work a little early.

I was the queen of meeting my friends when we went out. Tell her to grow up and meet you there. Tell her you'll buy her first drink... of soda since she has such a long drive home.;)

I would also suggest she drive herself, and then come up with a couple of meeting plans... maybe like go to the entrance once an hour (starting @ 9pm?) to meet up -- or can you call/text message each other on your cell phones to coordinate a meeting place?

Good luck

To quote the wise and benevolent Mr. Spock, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". She needs to get the lead out or meet you there. I wouldn't necessarily want to be walking around Deep Ellum by myself at night either, BUT, if she wants to go to the concert late and leave early, she needs to be prepared to arrange her own transportation and not inconvenience her friends. :)

I already bought her ticket for her (she has it now & paid me back for it on Saturday) My sister really wants to see the other bands, she offered to go earlier & said I could meet up her (but I don't feel great letting my sister walk around that area alone either).

I guess the best play is this:
Tell my friend to take as much time as she needs & to meet us up there. I'll have my cell phone on vibrate & I'll tell her to call me when she pulls up & is about to walk into the club. I'll wait up at the bar on the left as close to the door as possible. I'll have have my sister use a flashing lightsaber keychain so I can find her again. I'd say that's pretty fair to all parties, no?

Maybe it's the late hour, maybe it's the fatigue from packing, maybe it's the excitement of going to WDW tom morrow, but I was ALMOST SURE that you said your sis has a flashing lightsaber keychain.

LOL, no, she doesn't have a flashing lightsaber keychain...but I do (I got it when I bought a video game). Enjoy your trip. :)

You got a metal tin too didn't you? My SO's brother has that very same lightsaber keychain he got with a collectors edition of some game. Don't remember what game, but no doubt it was star wars something! The keychain is cute (don't tell anyone, but I liked to play with it. I even made the "wooshing" sounds!)

Well, actually I didn't get the tin. My friend runs a video game store, so he often gets things like that. :) Yeah, it's super cool! I had it hanging from my rear view mirror for a bit (come to thing of it I might put it up again), but someone said that I might get pulled over if I had it on while I was driving.

Well, I'm back. She met us there. It was a tough call (clothes-wise) because it was freezing outside & I knew it would be hot in the club, but I wore my Stars jersey/sweater. We stuck around (my sister & I) & got some autographs. It was really cool, but it was tough to wake up this morning & my ears are still ringing.

LOL, glad you had fun. :)

It was funny because all the bands were like "Hey, I thought Texas was supposed to be hot!" lol
