Looking for staterooms with two full sized beds!

I sailed on the Magic in January with a friend. Our room had a queen bed, and a couch that we thought pulled out into a full sized bed. But it actually just flipped over into a twin (a really really small twin). I wasn't thrilled about sleeping there, in the living room, with no privacy, while my friend had a queen bed, nightstands with lights, a dresser, a privacy curtain, etc.

So we're planning another trip on the Magic for January 2025. I'm not good at navigating the website, and I'm not savvy about trip planning. So help me out here.........are there no rooms with two full sized beds?

(Please don't suggest that she take the couch this time, because she isn't physically able to, so I'll always get stuck with the couch.)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me --- and LINKS are great, too!

Doesn't exist on DCL all beds are queens with the couch. Maybe you could go with a family cabin (sleeps 5) and get one with a Murphy bed. You would probably have to pay the higher rate. All you can do is call and ask.

You would need 2 separate staterooms. The murphy bed is a twin as well so a family room will not fix that

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy, not being able to find it, because it seems like it should definitely be an option. It might be better to get our own separate staterooms?

Just remember, they don't have singles rates either.

The only thing to note is all staterooms are priced at 2 adults- so you would basically pay double to each have your own stateroom VS sharing one if you are the only two traveling.

Try a stateroom with the Murphy bed. They seem to be more comfortable than the sofa bed.

Some of the Magic concierge rooms have a double sleeper sofa (though reviews on their comfort aren't great) or actual twin beds and would have separate sleeping spaces. If the alternative is paying two solo supplements, might be worth considering.

The "basic" rooms all have the queen bed and, usually, the twin sofa. Family rooms will have queen bed, sofa bed, and (sometimes) a twin bunk (over the sofa) and/or a twin murphy bed. All the twin beds are standard size twin beds.

Concierge Royal suite has 2 bedrooms, but only one queen bed, the other room has 2 lower and 2 upper twin beds.

Concierge one bedroom suite: 1 bedroom with queen bed; double sleeper sofa in living room; wall pull-down single bed in living room (in staterooms 8032, 8034, 8532 and 8534) or bedroom (in staterooms 8022, 8046, 8048, 8078, 8080, 8086, 8522, 8548 and 8582) in all but staterooms 8100, 8102, 8600 and 8602

Concierge 2 bedroom suite: 2 bedrooms: main with queen bed, second with two twin beds and upper berth pull-down bed; double sleeper sofa in living room

Those are all the options (bed-wise) on the Magic.

I don't know of any cruiseline that has 2 full-sized beds in anything other than one of their top suites. Best-case for 2 beds in a non-top suite stateroom would be a different line that can separate their King into 2 twins.

DCL doesn't offer that except on some of the ships with the multi bedroom suites. You could do two separate rooms or even adjoining rooms but keep in mind there is no single rate

I just watched a Royal Caribbean cruise vlog where the lowest level suite had the king bed that separates into 2 twins in the bedroom, and a couch that flips out into a queen-sized bed in the living room. The family's teenagers said that the queen in the living room was more comfortable than the couch and upper bunk on Disney (although the parents said the king bed was not as comfortable as Disney's queen).

Thanks so much for all of the detailed answers! I'm disappointed that Disney doesn't have accommodations for friends traveling together who don't want to share a bed.

We will explore the options we have, but I'm not sleeping on that couch again lol!

Disney used to have the splittable bed. After the Dream and Fantasy came along, they made the single queen the standard across the fleet.

Other (perhaps most) of the mass-market cruise lines utilize splittable beds, still.

We are in the same club - I would love what essentially a hotel room at sea - two double or queen beds to allow friends or others who want two separate beds to share a cabin! I’d also like a shower-only, no tub.

The challenge is the desk or dresser. With the current bed + sofa configuration in most cabins, the dimensions of the room have a tight space between foot of bed and the wall. The sofa is not constrained by this space.

But a future ship could have those cabin units built a bit wider to at least put some of these special rooms onboard. I think even families with small children might utilize a regular bed instead of that top bunk.

…Disney does not make provisions for solos, friends, anyone who wants something different from what they think is suitable sleeping arrangements for a family with medium size children. And no more than 3 of those.

End of rant. And wish for my dream stateroom.

Many of the hotels in Europe also have one big bed with two separate comforters instead of two separate beds. And I just really need my SPACE! I kind it awkward as well - even with my niece who wriggles around in her sleep.

They do. But both have to be willing to swap partway through. It's what a friend and I do all the time.

If the other person won't take a regular twin mattress part of the time, IDK outside of a suite what you can do on any cruiseline to share a room - because even the ones that have splittable beds, they only split to twins.

I seriously doubt any cruiseline is going to build standard hotel-sized rooms onboard - at least not without charging even more than Disney does already. The space involved would drastically reduce the number of cabins they could build.

I know that’s true. I just don’t like it. But at least other cruise lines do have the splittable bed. Ultimately, we all have to make decisions on what matters more - Disney product or a bed for the person who doesn’t hold the “have the have the bed” card.

Honestly if my friend insisted on having the queen the whole cruise, I'd "insist" that she pay a little more. When we switch halfway through we go 50/50 (same for odd-numbered cruises...we don't make the one who gets the queen pay more for the one night). We explain to our stateroom host to ensure that the sheets are changed out and it's never a problem.

So agree with making cruise fare more equitable if the bedding isn’t available to both!

It definitely would benefit both financially if they didn’t have to pay the solo 100% supplement to get two cabins for the two beds.

It’s great that you have a cruise friend who is in agreement with the bed/ cost situation.

in the living room, with no privacy, while my friend had a queen bed, nightstands with lights, a dresser, a privacy curtain, etc.
With two teenage daughters and my husband and I in the “middle” of the cabin with them traipsing back and forth to the restroom when we’re trying to sleep, I think the queen has less privacy as there is no “traffic” to the end of the stateroom beyond the curtain.
