Hello:

We will be at WDW in early July before a 7 night Disney Cruise. We are lucky enough to get to WDW many times the past several years and we are looking for something different to do one of the nights that would not be in the parks. We have an extended family of 9 people from ages 11 to 72. Any ideas???

We are staying at the Ft Wilderness Campgrounds and were thinking of the Hoop Dee Doo (which several of us have done before) but it is like $650 for 9 adults. That just seems excessive. :)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can:
- go to one or both of the two miniature golf courses.
- go to a water park if you haven't done one of those before.
- rent a boat on seven seas lagoon.
- tour several resorts.
- luau (not sure of the name) at the Polynesian.
- see La Nouba at Disney Springs before it leaves in December.
- walk around the boardwalk area.
- go to AK Lodge and look at the animals they have on their savana.
- go to Splitsville or see a movie at Disney Springs.
- see the MK fireworks from the Polynesian beach.

If you were to rent a car:
- You can go to Kennedy Space Center in Port Canaveral.
- Drive to Tampa Bay and go to a baseball (Tampa Bay Rays) game.
- Go to the beach.

You can always rent a car from Alamo at the Disney Car Center for a day.

That's all I can think of at this moment.

I second going to Kennedy Space Center if you can rent or have access to cars. However, if you're looking for night options, I'd suggest going to Disney Springs for dinner and shopping (or window shopping). DS has lots of shops that appeal to different ages. I've been twice with a largish group with varied ages, and everyone had fun. Everyone had a blast in the hat shop trying on different styles of hats, for example. And there are lots of options for eating at DS...both sit down and counter service...as well as a movie theater, carousel, and live entertainment areas outside depending on the time of the year. When we've gone to DS, our family has a meal together then splits up to shop/play depending on who wants to do what. We meet up later for dessert at a take out/counter service place.

(1) Go to DS for shopping / dinner and take the boat to POR to see Yee Haa Bob. (make sure that He is performing that night first, though). Perhaps walk to POFQ and try the beignets.

(2) Ride the boat from FW to the CR, then walk to the MK bus stop and get the bus to either of the Epcot resorts. Check out the BW buskers, rent surrey bikes, have dinner in one of the Epcot resort area restaurants or book Beaches n Cream for burgers and ice cream. Watch high Epcot fireworks from the YC boat dock. Grab an Uber for a ride back to FW (if ready to retire) or get the bus to DS for some more late night entertainment.

(3) I wouldn't rule out Hoop Dee Doo. It's a lot of fun and right at your resort. It is pricey, but includes dinner and you are a large group.

(4) If you have a car, good old resort hopping to resorts that you haven't seen can be fun. Stroll around and plan where you would like to stay on a future visit.
