Looking for some advise

We are DVC members and we visit Disney regularly always staying on property. However our next trip out we would like to add around 3-4 nights on to the end of our vacation to enable us to visit Universal Studios. This will be around the 13th December.

We will be 2 families traveling together, 4 adults and 4 children in total. We would happily stay at either a home, suite, separate rooms. Although suites or homes would be preferred.

What options are available to us? Avoiding a car would be fantastic so a hotel with shuttles or walking distance would be good.

What type of budget are you looking at? It is really nice to stay onsite if you can do it. They have suites at all the hotels.

Thanks for the reply our budget isn't that tight and if we could split the cost between the two families it wouldn't be too bad. I guess no more than $200 per night.

You can't get 8 people in any one room at Universal--even the suites. I thought you meant you each wanted your own suite.

You would have to get two rooms. You should be able to get a standard room at the Royal Pacific for under $200/night in mid December with the stay more save more rate.

My two-cents....
Staying on-site isn't "too" costly, especially if you stay 4 nights or more. Royal Pacific would total about $800 per family for four nights, 13-16. Plus you get free water taxi and free "front-of-the-line" express pass at most rides in the theme parks.

We just got back late last night from a trip to Disney then Universal. We had four adults and got two rooms at the Royal Pacific. Trust me, it is well worth the money to stay onsite. The front of the line access was amazing. I have no idea how many times my adult son & his girlfriend rode the rides that had front of line access. Many of those lines had 60-70 minute wait times and they were able to walk right on the rides.

Early entry to Harry Potter proved invaluable. I would suggest staying on site even if it's a bit more than you wanted to spend. I think we paid $186 a room with the Stay more save more option.
