Hi guys,

Looking for somewhere down the east coast to spend 3/4 nights before we fly back from Fort Lauderdale this November.

Really not sure where to stay so I was hoping some of you who have stayed or visited beach areas down this way could give me your opinions.

Thanks! :goodvibes

The Vero Beach area is nice, can be very quiet though. Or if you don't mind going further south I really like Miami just north of South Beach :)

Hi, we arrived in Hutchinson Island yesterday and it is amazing!! We are staying at the Vistanas Beach Club, and I really can't recommend it highly enough! We have a 2 bed condo which is plenty big enough for the 5 of us. Our room overlooks the pool and walkway to the beach, and when we leave our room, we have an amazing view over the India River. I will add some photos later as we are shattered! We drove into nearby Jensen Beach this morning and had breakfast in Jan's Place which was fab, and then had a wander around before going into Publix to pick up some bits, and then heading back to the Vistana where we went on the beach, (the sea was soo warm!) and then sat by the pool for a while, dipping in as it was sooo hot. Temperature gauge outside said 100 degrees!!! There are activities for the kids (and adults!) so at 3pm we went in to make our own ice cream sundae! 3 huge scoops of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate and birthday cake with chocolate frosting- yum!) various sauces, sprinkles, caramelised walnuts, finished off completely covered in whipped cream! DH and I shared and still struggled; price? $4!!!
This evening we wandered up the road(about a 5 minute walk) to the local diner where the food in excellent and reasonably priced!
Sorry, I've turned this into a bit of a TR, but wanted to give you an idea.

We just stayed for 3 nights at Disney's Vero Beach and absolutely loved it, with youngish kids (6 & 8) it's fantastic, so much for them to do, pool was brilliant and always loads of life guards. The kids activities ran pretty much all day and many of them completely free, even when paid it wasn't much, they made tie died T-shirts which took an hour fully supervised and kept the T-shirts for $10 each which is pretty good.

Food was nice although if you don't like Disney World food, the hotel itself is broadly the same options so you'll need to venture out.

It's our new favourite to the point where we may take a year out of Orlando trips and go to Vero for a fortnight instead in a couple of years (next year is already booked!)

Disney's Vero Beach looks amazing but unfortunately there is only a 3 bed cottage available when we want to go, and certainly couldn't afford the price they were asking for that! :scared1:

That's a shame, we struggled with availability but ended up finding a room through Hotels.com I think. It was full one minute then had a room the next so if you want to stay there, keep trying every now and again.

Trivago is good as it instantly checks a few of the big hotel sites
