Hi- I have a picky DS6! He would only wear sweatpants year-round if I let him. As the warmer weather is coming, he will need some "transitional" pants before it is shorts season. I cannot find a thing, and I look often.
DS does not want to wear "plastic pants that make loud noises when I walk" or stiff jeans. He would prefer pull-on pants, but I know he will have to get used to a zipper/snap/button soon.
Has anyone seen anything? I am willing to order, if necessary. I have looked at WalMart, Target, JCPenney, Belk, and Kohl's, without success.
Thanks, everone!:)

My DS8 is in exactly the same state of mind about pants! He has a real problem with the way jeans feel, he hates the whole irritation in the crotch area. He refuses to wear jeans or even cargo type canvas pants. So irritating to have him wearing sweats everywhere! I have managed to get him into wind pants that look a little sharper now. It took some persistence on my part! Plus I think it was the last pair on the shelf because I was behind on laundry!! :rotfl: I have found a few pairs of lightweight, elastic waist pants that he doesn't mind, but he much prefers sweats. I can't even remember where I've found these, most likely Target. Good luck! I'll be watching for more responses!

CWD kids has pull on pants for boys. The jeans aren't real soft, but they definitely aren't regular jean material. They soften up more each time they are washed. They are made by Wes and Willy.

GO to Goodwill or Salvation Army. The jeans will be washed down and worn.
Maybe they will be soft enough for him.

I have a son that feels the same. Check out "Comfort Jeans" from Hanna Andersson dot com. They are currently on sale for $25. We also have that issue with undies. The Hanna Andersson underwear have awesome waistbands that don't leave that elastic imprint. The clothes are very high quality and can be worn year after year. If you shop the sales, you can get reasonable deals.

GapKids has a great boy's mesh pull-on sweatpant. My DS loves to wear these in spring & fall. They aren't too heavy so they work great in milder weather. They are $19.50 though.

Gymboree is having a President's Day sale and there are some dressier-looking knit pants on sale.

Check out the Childrens Place wind pants. They are lined and pull on and totally a bigger boy style. HTH.

Another vote for the CWD catalog. They have Muberribush pull-on jeans that are a lighter weight denim, so they are softer than regular jeans.

I wish you a lot of luck with this issue. My son is 10 and still is very sensitive to the texture of his clothing. My biggest problem is that he does not like to wear sweatpants to school! We have found a couple of pairs of black dress type pants at Kohls. They are part of the Tony Hawk line.
Target also has a line of jeans that he says are soft enough, they only came in colors, tan, green, black.

Do you have a Tommy Hilfiger outlet nearby? I bought my son jeans for school in September from the TH outlet in Lancaster PA for maybe $12. These are the softest jeans I have EVER felt! I don't even use fabric softener, dry them on a drying rack and they are STILL soft!!

My son loves the Lands End Jean Cargo Action Pants and the Sun Life pants. The jeans are very soft and he loves the ease of pull ons. He just turned 8.

Elementary school boys wear jeans? Ds10 hasn't worn jeans since preschool, same with his friends. Most boys here start wearing them again in JH. He does own one pair, though.

Look for DENIM LITE they are the most comfortable jeans. They are still Jeans but washed jean material. Which makes the softer!!

Just out of curiosity, what DO they wear? I cannot imagine kids not wearing jeans....maybe it's a regional thing? We are in the southeast.

Oh I'm so glad to hear my ds 5 is the only one not wanting to wear jeans. he started this last year and i thought he was way to young to have a say in what he wore. I got tired of fighting everyday and let him go to the store with me and pick out what he would wear. we do have the wind pants from childrens place but i will check out some of these other sites. He doesn't like the waist band is the undies so i was glad to hear about that. He doesn't like the feel of jeans and would prefer no snaps or buttons. he tells me they are to tight...he is so small he could wear slims and most of his pants fall down but he thinks that is still to tight. I was hoping this was a temporary thing but if i have to do this until junior hight i might go crazy.

I don't know if you are crafty or sew at all, but this pattern is the EASIEST ever and you can make jeans very easily (took me about 30 minutes the first time) You can get soft denim at walmart for about $3 a yard or the fabric stores (Joann, Hancock's, etc) always have prntable coupons you can use to get fabric for cheap. HTH and if you want to get started visit the DisBoutique thread, everyone there would be happy to help: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2057665

Heres the pattern: http://youcanmakethis.com/info/featured-products/Easy-Fit-Pants-For-Dolly-and-Me-boys-too.htm

Sorry I am of no help, but just had to respond. I have the same problem with DD6. She refuses to wear any jeans or pants that have a zipper or button or snaps. All she wants is pull on pants. She too complains that they hurt her butt. :sad2: She has to wear khaki or navy uniforms to school and as she gets bigger they are hard to find in her size.
I did get lucky at Wal Mart this weekend with some pants and shorts for summer. They had Garanimals in bigger sizes, all the way up to 8. I grabbed quite a few as they go quick. I wish someone would make a line of clothing with pull up pants for bigger kids.

My DD is very very picky about pants. Hanna Andersson is fantastic! Lots of unisex items- so we order from the boys and girls sections. With adjustable waist she does not even have to unbutton them. Super soft and last forever. She has pants she wore and that are now on the 3rd cousin! A bit pricey but worth every penny!
