Hi!

I've never worn sandals, before, but we're going back to WDW this July, when it's hot hot hot. I remember how it was last time, and I've decided to get some sandals to try and keep cool. I never bought sandals before, so I know nothing about what brands are comforable and durable for a week's worth of park hopping.

What do you reccommend? (BTW I'm a male if that makes a difference, but I'm sure my DW would also be interested in what's good for women)

Thanks!

go and look at the men and womans at LLbean.com and the tevas are outstanding and comfortable .....I think that everyone that has these LOVE THEM

I never wore Birkenstocks until I started reading these boards.
I finally gave in and bought a air and I LOVED them. I wore the until I was walking on the cork innersole and hated to toss them out. I did buy another pair but I had the first pair so broken in.
I got cancer and the chemo caused neuropathy in my feet. I have no feeling and because of it I can't wear shoes without backs because I can't hold them on with my toes the way you do with Birkenstocks and some other sandles. This strengthens your calves by the way.
So I again went to these boards and followed advice and got myself a pair of Crocs. I love them more than Birkenstocks. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I got them last summer and have worn them through the winter and have them on right now. It made it hard to put on a pair of heels for my grandson's christening but I suffered through the church and put on my Crocs for the party.
I am getting the Crocs Nile sandles as soon as the store in my mall gets them (May 11th, I have it marked on my calendar) and can't wait to try them.
I would recommend either Birkenstocks or Crocs. Peggie

I used to get blisters every trip till I started wearing my Teva Pretty Rugged Leather sandals. They are so comfy.

I also really love my Ecco Cosmos. Like walking on air.

The Teva Pretty Rugged nylon are also great as they are waterproof.

Keen!!!!!

They aren't the prettiest thing out there, and on my size 9.5 they're pretty big, but I wore them for an ENTIRE day traipsing through EPCOT without a single thought to my feet.

Try LandsEnd.com. We bought their sandals last year for the whole family -- very comfortable. Also, I am trying to remember the brand name, sorry, but I bought some "flip flop" type sandals on clearance at Sears for $6 in 2004 that had the same sole as sneakers. (They were made by a company that makes athletic shoes but not Nike, Reebok, etc) Took them to Disney along with my Reeboks. Ended up wearing the sandals whole trip -- whole lot more comfortable & cooler. BTW these could get wet and the straps dried super fast. About cried last year when our newly adopted 2 year old dog and our 6 month old Sheltie decided to use them as a chew toy. Sorry I could not be of more help with these, if I remember the brand I will post -- they had them in mens, womens, and children and were black and white.

Another vote for Tevas! They are the only shoe that I can wear all day at WDW and not have a problem. :thumbsup2

My feet are so happy - it's Teva time in Michigan again! :goodvibes

I love my Birkenstocks! First bought a pair when I was pregnant and did a LOT of walking. Have worn 2 pairs out and keep buying more. They have survived 2 Disney trips so far and are getting ready for a third. Hmmmm~does that mean I can buy another pair?! :yay:

What about "dressy" sandals???? I swear by Crocs, but now need a new pair of dressier looking sandals, not only to take a beating from a week at WDW, but also for the rest of the. My Easy Sprirt brown sandals made it 5 years and 9 trips in hot climates with tons of walking (6 to WDW) and now have no cushion in them and are making my feet sore at the end of a long day, although they still look great and held up on the outside. I just can't find any that aren't too casual looking or too orthopedic looking. Any thoughts? My main needs are that they are cushiony to not make my feel sore and also don't cause hot spots on the bottoms of my feet or run any where to cause blisters...tough order, I know...but my Easy Spirit's fit that bill!

Tevas, Tevas, Tevas! Bought a pair for DH and DS and myself - happy feet the entire time!

I have Birkenstocks that I love - wore them twice last trip on days that I knew we were going back to the hotel after lunch in case my feet hurt, but they were GREAT. (Be sure to sunscreen the tops of your feet no matter what kind of sandals you wear. I had lines after only wearing them those 2 mornings WITH sunscreen.) I also have Crocs that I love, and Tevas that I need to start wearing so I can make a decision. It took me a long time to buy the Crocs, and I didn't expect to really like them. At first I wore them with socks, and that was good. Then I started wearing them without socks, which caused some "rub" spots the first couple of times. Without socks they seem to work better if I flip the strap forward instead of wearing it around the back. Now I really like them!

DS has multiple styles of Tevas but he hasn't really worn his, either. He also has Crocs that he REALLY wanted, but he hardly ever wears them. I am hoping once school is out he will wear them more often and grow to like them as much as I like mine!

DH has a pair of Ecco sandals that he says are very comfy, but he has only worn them in the house so far.

You can see that I am a mall rat, and I buy LOTS of sandals in the off-season. The trade-off is not knowing if we like our sandals for several months! ;)

Anyone in the New England area know a good place to get Crocs? :yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm on the Seacoast of NH and we have them at Dick's Sporting Goods, EMS, some Hallmark's, Journey's (funky shoe store at the Newington Mall) and the best place that has the most choices is Red's Shoe Barn in Dover. They have the Beach style and the new thong flip-flop style and their prices are a couple dollars under everyone elses (they also have a good selection for kids). http://www.redsshoebarn.com/index.htm If you need more info about that store just let me know :)

Reef flip flops for DH & I. I actually bought my first pair right outside of POTC when my feet were bleeding from blisters about ten years ago, and unless it's cold, they're still on. Yes, they last that long. I find that the men's have more support than the women's. I can wear a size 7 men's if I can find them. I also love them because they can get wet. You'll squeak until they dry, but water's not an issue wearing Reefs.

As for the lady who posted about dressy sandals, I've always had pretty good luck with Aerosoles. I've had several different pairs over the years that have worked out great for evening festivities in Orlando...no heel or anything, but a heck of a lot nicer looking than my Reefs.

I swear by Tevas. Birks are great too, but for WDW nothing beats tevas. I first stred wearing them about 16 years ago. Not the fancy leather ones, but the original velcro and nylon ones.

We always wore them as water shoes on vacations to the adirondacks. This is before the little water slippers were sold in walmart and everywhere else.

Tevas are more condusive to the water rides environment as well as rainy days and to the pool. That way you don't need the water socks and sandals.

They dry quickly!
