I know there are lots of postes about the POFQ, but I am coming to Disney for the first time and I would love to just hear someone talk about the resort. I am anxious for every new episode to come out and your recient review of the Caric Resort, just made me wonder if you had done one of the French Quarter in the past.

Hoping you can help.

I am guessing in the next few days you are about to meet a BIG pile of port orleans fans,

We LOVED it. Quiant, it felt like walking through NOLA. The pool is super cool.

We love POFQ. It is our favorite moderate for several reasons. First of all, it is small compared to other resorts and no matter what building you are in, it is a short walk to the food court. Being able to take the boat to Downtown Disney is enjoyable, and if you want a change of pace for dining, you can easily walk over to Riverside. They also have a jazz musician a few times a week, and Bob Jackson at Riverside is very entertaining. We have always found the CMs to be helpful and hospitable. Hope you enjoy your stay there!

Our favorite mod is POR, but we venture over to POFQ for biegnets. All I can say about POFQ is that it is infested with crazy scary clowns and my wife would rather stay at a value at the same time as Pop Warner than to stay in the same hotel with the crazy scary clowns, lol. (We can't eat inside the food court, we have to go outside because the giant clown head in there gives her the heebie-jeebie's.)

Pretty, otherwise. :)

We love POFQ. Stayed there in August 2008. Ask for Buildings 5 or 6. They are suppose to be the quietest. Don't forget to ask for an upgrade. It never hurts to ask and sometimes you get lucky. Aside from the biegnets, I found the foodcourt very lacking. One of the Cons is they have no full service restaurant. You have to go over to the Riverside and share theirs. They have a great pool and water slide. I still consider POFQ the best of the moderates. Enjoy.

ITA, our favorite building at POFQ is 5. Just the perfect location.

I love POFQ, defintely my favorite moderate. POR is nice too, but it's just so big! And I really prefer the New Orleans theme at POFQ for everything, from the lobby to the rooms. It's so quaint and charming. I wish POFQ had a sit down restaurant, but that's not that big of a deal. We really enjoy getting something from the food court and sitting outside to eat. Kids love the pool there too. I do recommend getting a 2nd or 3rd floor room. Really 2nd. Each building only has one elevator and taking the steps is much easier, but hiking up them after a day at the parks can be a chore. The 2nd floor is nice for easy stairs and you don't get the walk by traffic noise of the 1st floor. Love the boat that goes to DTD. We used it alot. I also like there is just the one stop bus area at POFQ and that the buses come to POFQ first, then POR. On the way back they drop at POFQ 1st then go to POR.

I've stayed at all four moderates, and POFQ is my favorite. The only drawback is the lack of a sit-down dining option, but to be honest I never found the restaurants at the other moderates worth writing home about, anyway.

I love POFQ. One week from today, I will be there :banana::banana:

This will be my third stay there. Personally I don't understand the lack of a sit down restaurant argument. The food court is very nice. Gotta love the beignets. And the clown heads too. Sorry about your wife, Golf4food. I love the boat to POFQ. If the season is right, there is a great night blooming jasmine plant you can smell on your way back from DTD. You can't see it, but the scent is fantastic.

While POR is my fav moderate, i also enjoyed POFQ. My sister and stayed there on a girls only trip many years ago. The pool is a lot of fun and love the quiet strolls (okay, sometimes not so quiet) through all the pathways. It really is relaxing. The food court is great and be sure to try the beignets! The rooms were suitable and standard for the mods at WDW. We didn't use bus transportation, so can't comment on that (had a rental car). But we had a good time and i would stay there again.

POFQ is our favorite resort. We don't want to stay anywhere else. The size is a big plus for us. Look over on the resort board for the picture thread. In the pictures you will notice you rearly see any people in the photo's. We always go in the spring or fall and it is nice to come back to a resort and not have to fight crowds at our resort.

Stayed there a few years ago...excellent service, beautiful grounds, and an all around lovely resort! You will have a great time :thumbsup2

We stayed there in October after 4 days at POP, we loved it, nice and quiet, the food court is nice, and we loved being able to hop on the boat and go to Downtown Disney. I know the boat takes longer than the bus but you get to see the treehouses and Saratoga Springs and then go across the lake it is a lot of fun.

LOVED everything about it :lovestruc. Really pretty and quaint. I am actually debating right this minute to change my Poly reservation to POFQ and save myself $1,000.00 (yes, a thousand ;))

We have had two stays at POFQ and loved them. It's relaxed and beautifully landscaped, and it's much smaller than any other moderate. The pool is fabulous (as is the pool-side bar :)). We've also used the laundry facility there and found it uncrowded and handy. There is great jazz music all around and lots of trees and little walking paths that look like the streets of New Orleans.

We also thought the food court was pretty good - not the biggest asset of the resort, but good variety. I have to agree that the decorations in there can seem a little bizarre - think giant Mardi Gras everywhere... beads, clowns, musical instruments, etc.

Another benefit is that the buses stop here first (before POR) so there's almost always a seat available.

We also love taking the boat to DTD and walking along the river on the back edge of the resort. Nothing is too far away. Highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed here last year on a trip without our kids. We had a corner room in Building 5, which was a great location, I thought. I will echo the PPs appreciation of the boat to DTD. It is a lovely, relaxing trip. It may be a bit slower than the bus, but it is a world away in terms of feel.

The rooms are fine, I thought. I find the layout a little odd with no closet, but there was enough room for the two of us. The pool looked fun, but I did not venture in. The Pool Bar was quite adequate to the tasks for which it was designed. I also really liked the overall size of the resort. Nowhere felt like a long walk from anywhere on the grounds. I suppose if we had walked to POR, i would have felt bigger, but we never had the need to do so.

We only hit the food court for a quick breakfast and sodas. Three beignets for one DDP snack credit is a nice deal for breakfast. :thumbsup2

The overall feel is romantic and intimate. Or at least as intimate as the Disney resorts get. All in all, I liked it a lot. I hope you enjoy it.

I love POFQ. One week from today, I will be there :banana::banana:

Kim,

I know your excitement.....we will be there one week from today! :woohoo: As a matter of fact, as I write this, "Mickey's Limo", aka Magic Express, may just about be dropping us off!

Just wanted to shout out a big thanks to everyone sharing their POFQ experiences. I can't tell you how excited I am about this upcoming trip. My kids don't know yet...though I almost spilled the beans yesterday. I hope they like it, because I already want to go back and we haven't even gotten there yet! LOL!

French Quarter is my favorite moderate. It is intimate, the landscaping/theme is great and they have one of the best pools on property. The food court is OK but you have to try the beignets. You are right across the river from Riverside which has a better food court and is also well landscaped. If you get the chance, catch Yeehaw Bob’s show at Riverside. He performs during most nights and it is supposed to be hilarious. FQ is a great choice for a first time visit. Have a great time.
