Hi, I've never gone but am interested in taking my 14 year old to build his own (very very expensive) lightsaber. Can anyone who's gone recently provide any feedback? And if you happen to have gone pre-covid and post-covid can you comment on any differences between then and now? If I spring for it I want him to get the whole experience.

Thank you!

I haven’t been since reopening, so I can’t give a current update, but hopefully someone who has gone recently sees your post and responds.

I can say, pre-covid the experience was awesome. I didn’t go when it first opened because I felt like it was an expensive experience to get a lightsaber I have no real use for as an adult (and what would I really get out of it as a grown adult anyway)? Well, all I can say was it was a ton of fun and I enjoyed it very much. If I was 14, I think I’d love it even more.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to operate normally given all the other things that are operating more or less normally, so hopefully someone can confirm whether or not it’s operating as usual.

My 15 year old went last week. It seemed like the full experience as described, and he REALLY enjoyed it. I felt that it seemed a bit rushed, but he barely noticed.

We only went pre-covid, Sept 2019, but we loved it. In my family of 6, 3 of us made lightsabers (me, DH, and DSIL 25 who is a huge SW fan). And the other 3 watched. Don’t be afraid to role play and interact with the CMs running it. As we were waiting to enter, one of the CMs was furtively checking with each little group to make sure we weren’t “spies” or anything. She asked DH if we could all be trusted, and he jerked his thumb at our DD 18 and whispered, “Not sure about her.” The CM pulled her aside to ask her questions. DD said clearly, “My father is a simple moisture farmer. We’re looking for some scrap metal to fix our power converters.” Then DD leaned in and whispered, “He’s working for the resistance- he’s wanted in twelve parsecs!” The CM was all over that. She designated DD as the “lookout” and made her be last in and last out of the building workshop. It was great!

Me and my 18 year old daughter were just there on Tuesday and it was amazing. It was my first time doing it at all, but my daughter was an observer back in 2019 and she says it was the same as before. We were in the very last group of the night and we could tell the cast members out front were a little tired and not quite as into it, but once we got inside they all played their parts perfectly.
