We have been to Disney every fall for the last 5 years ....last year my DD decided she would do the autograph book thing ....well we manage to get a good portion of the main characters ...we leave in 5 days for trip number 6 !!
my question is ...where can we find the "different" out of the ordinary characters ?

thanks
Phyllis

You might want to check out Steve Soares site. He has all the character greetings listed towards the bottom of each park. Dont know who you are looking for that is really out of the ordinary. Remember you can have them call at Guest Services and you can have them check at any of the Operating boards on who is where and at what time.

In MGM, infront of the Sorceror's Hat, a lot of characters come out. I've seen a lot of the more popular ones, like Mickey, Tigger, and Donald. But sometimes, I see some more rare characters, like some Robin Hood characters.

The Characters on Holiday bus in Epcot at the World Showcase also have some rare ones. I've met Rafiki there

Have fun and good luck with finding them! ::MickeyMo

I suggest you make a list of who you want and then go ask at Guest Services -

or post it here and we can tell you where we have seen those characters

We LOVE finding the unsual characters!!! :) :) Any character in particular you are looking for? We met many rare characters and put their photos and autographs in our website in our signature. And we listed where we seen them, and other places we heard of them being out! Though for many unusual characters, it's just being in the right time and the right place at the right time of year! :)

Unfortunately, on my last trip, characters appearances seem to be way down, and popular "fur" ones were all we were seeing! Hope this is not the start of a new trend! We were there around Hurricane Wilma so maybe that affected things. :(

Some good location for unusual ones are the like the above poster said, the Big Hat area at MGM (though last week there was no unusal ones anywhere!). Another place is the entrance to Magic Kingdom in the mornings. These characters could rotate in and out, so if you pass by more than once, you could see different characters out. Another great spot is the ToonTown Train Station area, but I swear this location is mainly used on Fridays in the late morning/early afternoon, but not every Friday. I think every time I seen this location used, it was a Friday! The entrance to Animal Kingdom is another good spot - the characters rotate in and out there, too. :) As also said, the Epcot Holiday Bus is great, too!

You can try asking at Guest Services for particular unusual characters, but most often, I find them useless. And better to ask after 10:00 am or so. I find Guest Services is best for popular/well-established characters in predictable locations.

Well, sometimes just wandering around, you'll be surprised who you see! :teeth:

We were there 9/25-10/8. This was our 2nd trip & DD had found most of the main characters on our first trip. I was surprised that we found so many new ones this time, but several were at MNSSHP.

We found Herc & Megara, and Evil Queen at MGM in the crossroads area.
Jane was at the AK entrance.
We found Foulfellow at the Toontown Train Station (like HugsForEeyore said, it was late morning on a Friday)

It depends on which characters you're searching for. We found several we needed in the different countries at Epcot. Let us know which you're looking for. :flower:

HugsForEeyore - Sorry to hear you didn't find many characters out! we were surprised to find so many out during our trip cause we thought it was so hot. Were you able to find some of the new ones at MNSSHP?

I have often seen some more unusual, or at least not so well known characters around the Main Street Square (by the railroad station) at MK. They sort of pop up all through the day. That is also the only place I have ever seen Daisy Duck.

Yep - I actually went to three MNSSHP parties! That was the place the real good characters were out. I had tickets to four parties, but the Hurricane rained out one. The 1st and 3rd were best (Oct 21 and Oct 27) as we met eight new characters for us - Abu, Jane, Tarzan, Prince Phillip, and the four Little Einsteins (Leo, Annie, Quincy, and June!). Other "rarer" ones we saw were Big Bad Wolf, Frollo, Snow White Queen, Walrus, the six non-Dopey dwarves, and Brer Rabbit. The 2nd party we went to (Oct 25) there were less characters - Abu and Annie and Genie weren't there. I still think that MNSSHP parties were better in previous years - at the 2003 parties, we got 14 new characters. :)

You actually recently saw characters near the Crossroads area (entrance to MGM)? I looked repeatedly last week and absolutely nothing. Even the Big Hat was mainly common classic and Pooh characters. And even the entrance to MK was pretty much common classics. It became a joke with me - everywhere I went, it was always Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale. And Stitch was around alot, too! I barely saw a face character anywhere!! I am kicking around going back to WDW again the end of the month for MVMCP, so I hope things get back to normal! Glad to hear you had some good character meetings! :teeth:

these are some that we would like to meet .....

Jimney Cricket --( my niece met him at MGM 5 yrs ago -- I didn't go that day .) . some of the villians , the evil queens , the 7 dwarfs , and the princes . Is Chicken Little character out yet ?
we will be going to EPCOT princess breakfast , Chef Mickey and CP -- so all of the main ones are covered . DD is not interested in any she has an autograph from already .

thanks again !

I once found Belle and the Beast in a shop at EPCOT . Sleeping Beauty was waving kids over because no one knew that they were there .

Chicken Little can be found at the Animation building at MGM Studios. Jimney Cricket is very rare- he is usually only out for Earth Day. The 7 dwarfs can sometimes be found by the big mickey in front of MK (photo only, no autographs). Prince Charming can be found at the 1900 Park Fare dinner at GF. Aladdin can be found in Adventureland. The other princes can be found in front of the castle if one of the Cinderellabration shows gets canceled. The villians that I've seen in the parks are Cpatain Hook, Queen of Hearts, and the Evil Queen from Snow White.

But how about John Smith? My son loves John Smith!

I remember when I was 7 yrs old seeing all seven dwarves in MK, I think I got Dopey and Docs autos if not more, I'll have to dig out my autograph book. I got Captin Hook and Mr. Smee (right spelling?), Brer Fox and Brer Bear, the Walrus from Alice in wonderland, I don't know if all these are normal to get or not. I also got the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and April O'neal at MGM after a TMNT show they had and they drove away in the Turtles Party Wagon, I know you can't get those ones anymore.

I actually found him twice on one trip - back in April 2004, in front of the Big hat at Disney-MGM Studios. He was with Pocahontas one day, and Pocahontas and Meeko another day. I was quite surprised to see him, as almost all character listing websites never include him as a meetable character, but there he was! :teeth:

Sadly, I never seen him ever again! And I have not heard about people seeing him anytime recently, either. You could try asking at Guest Services, but they will probably have no information about a rare character like him! Just pure luck needed, I guess!

We just returned October 30th and found Jiminy Cricket in Epcot where the Character Caravan does their meet and greet. He has a really cute signature with an umbrella as his J. Hope you find him there. :cheer2:

We were there 9/30 & the characters were at the Crossroads area at 2 pm. There were a lot out, but we already had most. Besides Herc & Meg, and the Evil Queen, I remember there was Mulan & Mushu, Alice & Mary Poppins, Chip & Dale (seems like they are always everywhere :flower: ). Seems like there was another pair -maybe Lilo & Stitch- they were all in pairs except for Evil Queen. We were told that Phil would be joining Herc & Meg at the second set at 3 pm, but we were going to LMA (wish we had gone to see Phil instead).

Our "joke" was Prince John - we saw him everyday, at each park.

Glad you found some new ones at MNSSHP, and hope you get to go for MVMCP. If all works out - we'll be going back Dec 2006.

phyllisva - Good luck with your hunt! :flower: When you get home, Please let us know who found.
