I know this thread has been around before, but I'm looking for some new ideas!!

Here are some we have read about before:

saving loose change
yard sale/craig's list
couponing
trade in cell, car batteries (old) etc.
old gold trade in (wish I had some)
coke rewards

Anyone have any new ideas? We are going to Dis in 2 months and would love to amass a little extra cashola:lovestruc

Hmm, I have taken stuff to the consignment store and used book store for cash. I can't think of anything else to add.

Good luck and have a great trip! :)

This probably constitutes as saving loose change:

I've always recycled bottles and cans, but I've recently started lugging them to the redemption machines at my grocery store. Since Monday, I've made a whopping $4.00. At this rate, I might have $20.00 extra dollars in spending money for WDW. :lmao:

Cash in reward points from credit cards and reward programs.

Sell books, dvd's, cd's and video games on abundatrade or secondspin.

Return anything you've bought that you might have sitting around with the tags still on and don't really need.

gift cards -- did you get any you forgot about or haven't used? you can use them or trade them or sell them....

I organized a neighborhood kids consignment type sale. It's Monday so I don't know how well I'll do yet but I have over 40 items to sell !

My thinking was a garage sale takes a lot of organization and usual consignment sales take a flat fee off the top and a % of the sales so I end up feeling ripped off (as a seller). So my sale is made up of neighborhood moms who are looking to buy and sell. There are no fees or % - I organized the whole thing and everyone will get the $$ that their items bring in (I'll keep track and sort out the cash at the end of the one day/ 3 hour sale). It's being held at our community pool so the kids can swim while the moms shop.

Anyway I started organizing it a couple of weeks ago so you could do it before your trip if you're quick and if you have a good neighborhood with lots of kids!

Did you change services and are due a refund from anyone? Cox owes me $20 when we cancelled.

-co-pay or insurance reimbursements?
-rebate checks due?
-mystery shopping - might be cutting it close but volition.com is a great place to look
-craigslist sometimes has ads for really PT type work - deliveries, flyers, banquet servers is usually advertised frequently
-any funds sitting in a paypal, ing or other seldom used account?
-babysitting
-amazon has a really easy book buy back process - you could even try buying books off CL and selling to amazon if you research a little, I see lots of textbooks for sale on ours now

Do you have a goal figure in mind? How much are you trying to earn?

I've started taking our bottles & cans to the redemption machines too. Since we hardly ever buy drinks that come in bottles/cans we don't make too much! But, I figure I'm going to the grocery store anyway so I might as well get my 5 cents a bottle instead of throwing it away.

OP, definitely check any PayPal accounts, rewards accounts, etc. I always forget about money in my PayPal account.

This isn't a way for you to amass extra cash, just a way for you to save cash you already have....

On $1 bills there is a single letter in a circle. We have picked some letters to save (I'm not sure what letters are available, but I have never seen q, z,r, etc. and some letters are more common than others).

For instance, my name is Danielle. My daughter's name is Jessica and my husband's name is Jimmy.

We save D's, J's, and then B's & G's for our two last names (dd is different from ours).

From last November 1 until this June 28th we had saved over $500 in $1 dollar bills. The previous year we had gone from October to October and had $849 in ones.

We don't trade with people, but if we get those letters back in change they are considered non-spenders. Even if we have to bust a larger bill to pay for something that is only a buck or two, we still do that. Sometimes, we get change back and it is $14, let's say, and all $4 ones will be non-spenders.

Also, right before our honeymoon in July of this year (I'd say the 6 weeks prior) we saved all $5 bills that we got.

Good luck with your saving!

We don't have bottle/redemption thing around here, I'd make a killing!

I'm not sure what my goal is, probably a few hundred extra (2-4) which sounds like a lot, but I have a lot of e-bay and flea market stuff to get rid of before we go... I need to get cracking!

I am also joining a local consignment sale at end of Sept., but I will try my luck with the stuff on ebay (mostly kids'clothes /halloween costumes) before I do the sale.

We never have any ins. refunds.. I do have some $$ sitting in paypal, but I am going to use for dis trading pins.

Lots of great suggestions-keep em coming!! We got $$ back when fd was offered for our trip, so I am using that for our spending money, it is just a fun motivator to see how much extra cash I can collect before we go!

Maybe I should stay off the budget board for a few weeks- that would save me a ton!! I am always finding great deals which cause me to spend $$

Recycle your old electronics, video games and dvds. Go to amazon.com, bestbuy.com and gazelle.com to find the trade in value for old stuff. They will pay for you to ship it and send you a check for the price. If you have alot of old stuff that you want to get rid of you can make a few dollars off of it with not much effort.

Yard sales often net a lot of profit!:rotfl: I also consign at a local kids consignement store!

Do you have any talents or free lance abilities that you could utilize between now and then to make some extra money?

These threads always inspire me to tap into my talents more to make some extra money! HAHA
